In Fantastic Four #381, Doom was apparently killed by mortal wounds inflicted by an alien invader. However, Doom was acting highly out of character, the alien seemed incapable of killing the Torch (much less Doom), and Doom has apparently died before in much more convincing circumstances. It turned out that both Doom and Reed were whisked away by a powerful being called Hyperstorm, and Doom eventually freed himself and returned to Earth.

This FAQ is the result of many questions asked about one of the most ingenious of Marvel Comics' villains, the notorious Doctor Doom! Originally, this FAQ was designed to answer questions about continuity in relation to Doom and his many appearances in various Marvel Comics titles.

Doctor Doom is very possibly the most brilliant human being in the Marvel Universe. He was created as the arch for Reed Richards, who has been hailed as the smartest man on Earth, yet Doom is more aggressively active with his genius than is Reed.
