Many attribute the idea to the Holy Spirit calling God's people to use their spiritual gifts. The idea has been developing for years in dioceses with many small, rural congregations, such as Alaska and those in Michigan. The idea for Spirit of the Heartland came from local multi-church gatherings usually facilitated by Canon Missioners to discuss possibilities for the future of our congregations. The idea was formally accepted by our vestries.

All money collected from the selling of blocks will be donated to the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society to help fight blood cancers. You can apply for development funding to write a draft of your film but different eligibility applies to new writers. If you are a new writer you will need to apply with a draft of the script. If you are experienced (that is, you have credits) you can apply with a concept outline for the No Frills script development, or a treatment for the general development investment. This is unknown at this point. Logically, it shouldn't seeing as the film is set before Day of the Dead when zombies began to learn, however footage in the first video blog shows a zombie pushing a shopping trolley which suggests otherwise -- although this could be nothing more than "remembered" behavior. The most likely scenario is that the zombies will use basic tools much like the zombie which makes use of a crow bar to smash a window in Dawn of the Dead (1978).

No. I do not accept submissions. The reason is because I can only write about a plot if I know it inside and out, front and back, beginning to end. Just sending me “I think this and this should happen!” isn’t enough for me to actually form a coherent book. You’d have to map out so many details that you might as well just write the thing yourself. So, requesting something isn’t going to get you anywhere. Sorry about that.

Yes, in fact we strongly encourage you to send us a trailer of your film so that viewers can watch the streamed trailer before deciding whether to download the film. From our experience, having a trailer increases the likelihood that viewers will download the film.

The best way to send film to us is in a padded envelope (available at most office supplies or Post Office). The Priority Mail envelope provided free of charge by the post office is also a good choice. If you would like, we will send you a pre-addressed heavy duty mailing envelope. Even though this envelope is not padded, every roll of film sent to us in this envelope has reached us in good shape. Do not use a regular lightweight envelope... Your film may not get to us.

A&I recommends that photographers entrust their unprocessed film to FedEx or another overnight carrier. If you do choose to use the U.S. Postal Service, we recommend that you send your film “return receipt requested.” A&I’s web site features a number of bulletins on film safety, as well as information on film tracking methods available through the US Postal Service.

We encourage all filmmakers to send us their work. Cucalorus does not divide films up into categories or genres; all films are screened by our Programming committee, made up of accomplished filmmakers, industry professionals, artists, the occasional preacher and one socialist realtor. We accept student films, funny films, erotic films, political films, experimental films, fancy big-money films, and backyard duct-tape films. Anything you can put on a dvd, send it in.
