Members can be persons who are studying film and video in college, or in the film industry such as actors, Casting Directors, Producers, Cameramen/women and the like.

WIFV-MD is a 501(c ) 3 organization which was organized to promote education and training of women for the purpose of improving or developing their capabilities in the film and video, through public discussion groups, forums, panels, lectures, and publications.

The benefits of being a member of WIFV-MD is that you will be exposed to vintage persons in the film industry through panel discussions and groups events. Networking is a large part of WIFV-MD benefits, which allows members to connect to people at these networking events which come from places such as the Maryland Film Office, MD Film Festival, Network News Personalities, Casting Directors and many others.

Now in its 8th year, the Maryland Film Festival (MFF) is an annual 4-Day independent film festival in Baltimore, Maryland's cultural/arts district. The Maryland Film Festival is proud to host 125+ unique screenings during the Festival weekend including premieres, classic silent films with live accompaniment, famous 3D film revivals and in-depth screening conversations with top filmmakers.

The Maryland Film Office is a marketing arm of the Maryland Department of Business and Economic Development. Our mission is to attract feature film, television, video and commercial production to shoot on-location in the state of Maryland. For major productions, we provide scouting for specific location needs. We break down scripts and prepare customized photo files. We coordinate scouts and can accompany productions throughout the location survey.

The Maryland Film Office provides location scouting and pre-production research, acts as a government and community liaison and provides full service throughout film production. Our primary goal is to promote the State of Maryland as an ideal location for film, video and broadcast productions. No. We do not expect any of our new students to have had previous experience in film or video. Most new students to the program are not familiar with filmmaking or editing equipment, thus the first semester of classes are designed to acquaint students with the filmmaking and editing process. 

While most of our students and classes work in Digital video, we do teach the technique and aesthetics of film. We have six 16 mm film cameras that students can check out.

Perhaps a better chance than a career in Philosophy. But all kidding aside, there are more opportunities now for electronic creative storytellers, or filmmakers. If you are looking for a 9 to 5 job this is not the best place for you. If you are looking to have a life working in film and video, we can help you.

You will primarily shoot on Digital Video. If there is enough demand from your class we will provide a special section on film with a group project.

We transfer all formats of film (8mm, S-8mm, 16mm, S-16mm, 9.5mm, and 35mm), both negative and reversal.

Videos can be added to a film, in between a batch of photographs. We receive many requests for this and it does make a film more interesting. We do charge $10 for each video segment added (each 5 minutes of video is considered one video segment).

My position is that videotaping 16mm is illegal without written permission from copyright holders. This keeps me out of court, and legal. Educational film companies have been very cooperative with ciné16, and I encourage interested parties to contact distributors directly, who will gladly sell videos. When films are out of distribution, I'd be happy to have anyone contact the filmmaker directly to discuss royalties, as many of these people are older, and could use the money.

The rates for showing film and video are the same for any other art form if the work is shown in an exhibition context. This is why there is no separate category for film and video in the Exhibitions section. Film and video utilize different equipment. Each media has unique recording equipment, lens', speed, look and feel. Work done in film has a painterly, smooth appearance and feel. Work shot on video is crisp and contrasty. Film is actually 24 frames per second with a variety of film width, ranging from common 35mm to very large 65 mm (the actual width of the film tape). And film requires developing. Video is 29.

Video content is interlaced, and typically 30 frames (meaning 60 fields) per second, while film content is progressive, typically 24 frames per second. The "Video Format" section of NVDVD Video property page indicates if the current content is film or video.

Our website provides links to other archives, including a section of organizations that specialize in Jewish related materials. The internet is also an excellent resource for finding titles on video. You might also check your local library and/or other organizations in your region.

Most projects are shot in film, including the thesis project at both the BFA and MFA level. Students in both programs will also shoot at least one project in digital video. The preparation and implementation of the digital project, including the equipment, is designed to mirror that of film production.

The major difference is that all Maryland Film Festival screenings are presented by hosts who participate in a question and answer session with the audience. Most times it is the director of the film - often accompanied by members of the cast and crew. Screenings at The Maryland Film Festival allow the audience to interact with the people that made the films.

The video is the tool used to evaluate your teaching skills, since the courses are done by correspondence. We know it can be nerve wracking to be in front of a camera, but it is the only way to assess your instructional abilities long distance. The certification specialist who is your instructor is the only person who would be watching it.
