Teeth should be cleaned thoroughly every day. For most children, twice a day, morning and at night before bedtime works well. The Children’s Institute opens at 7:30 a.m. and closes at 5:30p.m. Monday –Friday. Upon arrival and departure the parent/guardian must sign their child in and out as a safety measure for the child. Each unit, situation and group of people are unique. There is no “cookie cutter” FRG. The needs and direction of the FRG is unique to each group. What works for one doesn't’t necessarily work for the next. If you hear of a group having an event that interests you, talk to the FRG Chairperson to find out about hosting that event for your own group. Poll your group and find out if there is interest and then get volunteers to help host the event.

Children of EMU students, faculty, staff and the surrounding community can attend the Children’s Institute. We enroll children ages 18 months to 6 years.

The Children’s Village is a community that provides nurturing family homes in a multi-generational, enriched environment for children and their siblings in foster care. When completely built, it will consist of 8 six-bedroom homes with trained “village parents” who will create the feeling of family for the children. And it will have six apartments for seniors who will be “grandparents” to the children giving them additional nurturing and care.

Any circumstances that may arise requiring the Institute to be closed (for example inclement weather) announcements will be carried on the EMU Newsline (734.487.2460); the switchboard (734.487.1849); WEMU (89.1 FM); WJR (760 AM); WAAM (1600 AM), as well as other radio and television stations.

Children are enrolled at the Children’s Institute on a semester basis throughout the year. The admission procedure, as space allows is as follows: You may contact the Children’s Institute for an Enrollment Application Form or print it off the web site. It must be submitted with a $20.00 application fee. We are not able to process the application until the application fee is received. A $30.00 registration fee will be due once the child is placed.

The Children’s Institute is located in the center of Eastern Michigan University Campus off of West Circle Drive. The West Circle Drive is accessed from Oakwood on the west side of campus. The Children’s Institute is located near the Geddes Town Hall One Room School House and across the street from the Bowen Field House.

If they wish, your kids can dine at the Children’s Dinner Table at 6pm. The menu features Melon & Strawberries, Super Burger, Fish Shapes, Pasta, Carrot Cake, Fruit and more. The Children’s Table should be booked direct on the “kids blackboard” at the restaurant entrance. After dinner we usually show some children’s films in a special room. PSS is a non-profit organization (managed by the Council which consisted of a group of elected volunteers) founded in 1950 by a group of passionate photographers to promote the art of photography to the masses. Over the years, many prominent and budding photographers grew with PSS and the membership strength today is about 1000. Anyone who is interested in learning the art of photography is welcome to join us, be it amateur or professional photographers.
