Related QuestionsP6. I can't read DBF format data files created in the Year 2000. Is this a Year 2000 Bug?
The RATS FAQ (Frequently Asked Questions)P6. This is not a Year 2000 bug in RATS. Rather, it is a problem with the DBF file format itself. Normal date fields in DBF files are Year2 2000-compliant, and work fine with RATS. However, DBF files also include a record near the beginning of the file that is used to store the date on which the file was last modified. Unfortunately, this record only allows space for storing two (hex) numbers--not enough to store a 4-digit year.

FAQ for the microsoft.public.languages.csharp newsgroupWhenever text is stored in a file, or sent across a network, it is always encoded in some way or other, to convert the characters into bytes. Related QuestionsWhy is it that Photoshop can't read the BMP files my app generates?
Delphi3D - Rapid OpenGL DevelopmentBelieve me: if I knew, I'd tell you. You can circumvent this problem by explicitly setting the PixelFormat property of your TBitmap object to anything but pf32bit. The default value is pfDevice, which makes the bitmap's bit depth correspond to that of your display. This means that people running in 32 bit color will generate invalid BMPs, whereas people running in 24 or 16 bit will not. To be on the safe side, always set the bitmap to 24 bit in your code.
Related QuestionsCan't Gartrip read and write files for Mapsource and Google Earth?
GARtrip FAQIt can't read and write the special file formats of those programs, but with the general purpose file format GPX this is possible - for Googel Earth with KML as well.. Why not use the GPX file format in general, to save user data, instead of the special file formats of Gartrip? Then I would not need to convert my data each time I want to access it with another program. This is not recommended because Gartrip, like all other programs, saves additional data in its own format.
