We are always looking for good drivers to train to become school bus drivers. We have classes beginning every other week. Applications are available at our Transportation office:

Anyone who is licensed in Missouri to perform physical examinations can perform a school bus driver physical (5 CSR 30-261.040).

A bus driver cannot drive a school bus for more than eight consecutive hours unless the driver stops operation of the bus for at least sixty minutes. A bus driver cannot operate a school bus for more than twelve hours in a twenty-four hour period (5 CSR 30-261.010 (3)(A)18 and for bus contractors-all applicable DOT regulations).

The school runs a private bus service, thus enabling pupils to travel to school conveniently and safely. A number of routes operate, but for further information, please contact the School Bursar.

It is up to the customer to arrange and pay for the bus driver's lodging. The driver must have a room with a bathroom, bed, and TV. It does not have to be the same hotel that your group is staying at but it does need to be close by so there aren't extra charges associated with getting from the bus driver's hotel to your hotel. Also, be sure the hotel has a place to park the charter bus. Typically, they cannot be parked on the street.

During a period from May 2005 through September 30, 2006, Missouri drivers meeting specific driving history and driving experience criteria were able to "grandfather" to obtain the new S endorsement. As of September 30, 2006, grandfathering is no longer an option.
