The Wellness Community is funded by corporate sponsorships and by generous individual donations. The Star Campaign™ is made possible by a generous charitable donation from GlaxoSmithKline Oncology.

You may make an online donation or mail a check or money order payable to The Wellness Community – National: For donations of $25 or more you will receive two Star pins, one for you and one for your Star! You will also be honored as a Shining Star Donor. You can purchase additional Star pins for all the Stars in your life for $5.00 a pin.

Launched in the spring of 2007, The Star Campaign™ is The Wellness Community's newest public awareness program. A national effort to honor family members, friends, health care professionals, social workers and others who provide support and care to cancer survivors, the campaign is designed to enable those affected by cancer to recognize and honor the galaxy of people - the Stars in their lives who have guided them through their cancer journey.

The Wellness Community provides psychological and social support for people with cancer and their families. Our services include support groups, stress management programs, educational workshops, and social activities.

Individuals who have cancer who desire to improve the quality of their lives and be an active partner along with their physicians and healthcare team. People who have had cancer and have completed medical treatments also attend to maintain their health while focusing on survivorship issues. Family and friends are also welcome to participate. No referral is needed.

The Wellness Community is conveniently located in the heart of Sandy Springs at 5775 Peachtree Dunwoody Road (click for map and to get driving directions). We are in building C, suite 225, and next door to the Medical Center MARTA Station. Going north on Peachtree Dunwoody Road from either Northside or St. Joseph's Hospitals, the driveway is the first right after the MARTA station. The sign says Peachtree-Dunwoody Pavilion.

The Wellness Community is a special community for cancer patients and their loved ones. Through participation in professionally led support groups, educational workshops and mind/body classes utilizing the Patient Active Concept, people affected by cancer learn vital skills that enable them to regain control, reduce isolation and restore hope regardless of the stage of the disease.

The effectiveness of all The Wellness Community’s programs are validated by research which shows that those who attend support groups have a better quality of life, handle pain more effectively and have better relations with family than those who do not. Stress reduction classes like Yoga and Tai Chi have been shown to boost the immune system and to reduce stress.

Weekly orientation sessions provide a great opportunity to learn more about TWC programs and benefits and are necessary for anyone who wants to join a Support Group. Orientation times are listed in our calendar. If you are interested in attending an educational workshop, social event or stress reduction class, just call us to let us know you are coming. You are also invited to drop by The Wellness Community’s main headquarters in Salisbury to pick up a calendar and look around.

No. We are a private company that provides Gift Packages. Astronomers will not recognize your name because your name is published only in our Star catalog. We periodically print a book called Your Place in the Cosmos ©,which lists the stars that we have named.

In late October or early November we hold an Annual Public Hearing at which time residents and members of civic and other organizations have an opportunity to present their requests to the Brookhaven Town Board for Community Development Block Grant funds. Again, as with most of our programs, these projects must fall within census tract authorized areas. Each request is reviewed by the board following the hearing and decisions are then made as to how the funding will be allocated.

The Wellness Community does not have a medical staff, and we do not offer medical services, advice or referrals. However, we provide regular educational forums, workshops and lectures with cancer experts and other health care professionals. Individuals seek their own treatment, and learn about resources from networking with one another.

No. The program is an adjunct to the treatment prescribed by a patient's healthcare team, and is not a substitute for medical care. No one is turned away from our services, whether they are receiving treatment or not. OUR MISSION is to help people affected by cancer enhance their health and well-being through participation in a professional program of emotional support, education, and hope - all completely free of charge.

Our Introductory Meetings are meant to provide new participants with an introduction to all the services and programs available at The Wellness Community. Attending an Introductory Meeting is also necessary if you think you want to join one of our weekly support groups. However, you can also just come to any other workshop or program on the calendar without coming first to an Introductory Meeting.

The International Student Fee goes to the Office of International Studies and Programs to help offset increased operating costs associated with federally-mandated SEVIS reporting requirements and to support the services provided to UNO's international student/scholar community.

Yes! Examples of raising funds would be an appeal letter to friends, employers, church or synagogue members, car washes, bakes sales, garage sales, etc. The NHF strongly encourages community involvement.

Most funds managed at the California Community Foundation are set up by individuals, some wealthy, others of more modest means. What these people have in common is a desire to give back to their community ? whether it’s protecting the environment, honoring the memory of someone they loved, setting up a scholarship fund to help students in need, supporting local arts organizations, or funding any other charitable cause imaginable.

If funds are designed for long-term use, we invest our funds in common stocks and fixed income securities in accordance with a prudent, long-term asset allocation strategy. We do not manage our investments from day to day; we hire professional managers to do that for us.
