Why is VISA credit card no longer accepted?
SFSU - Bursar FAQEPOS, a third party agent contracted by the University for on-line payment processing, no longer accepts VISA credit card because the VISA U.S.A. regulations require charging a fixed processing fee for all transactions, regardless of the amount. SFSU has many transactions that are smaller in dollar amount than the fixed fee. It is an unfair burden to ask students, for example, to pay a $20 transaction fee in order to make a $20 credit card charge.
