Furniture Bank - FAQsWe can give you a tax receipt for the "fair market value" of your furniture at the time it was donated. Please be aware that this will probably be a small fraction of the amount you paid for it, so most people don't bother unless the items you are donating are antiques or collectibles. Make sure you tell us at the time you arrange your donation that you will want a receipt for the value of the furniture, so that we can separate it and evaluate it at the time it comes into our warehouse.
Related QuestionsHow do you decide how much the tax receipt will be issued for?
BC Branch KFOC - Kidney Car Program FAQThe tax receipt is based on the fair market value (FMV) of your vehicle. Most vehicles are assessed as ‘scrap’ vehicles with a typical FMV of $60, but may be as low as $50 depending on the Kidney Car Agent and the going rate for steel. In some cases, a vehicle can be refurbished and re-sold. The FMV of these vehicles is based on a qualified appraisal. Before donating your vehicle, please check with your local Kidney Car Agent about its practices on the valuation of vehicles.
