Related QuestionsWill there be any films made based on GGK's books?
Bright Weavings: The Worlds of Guy Gavriel Kay - Frequently ...No definitive information on this topic, but GGK has said in interviews that his agents are in 'chronic low-grade discussions' with Hollywood. I imagine that a lot will depend on how successful the Lord of the Rings films turn out to be. If they are hugely successful (which I think they will be) then Hollywood will be looking for similar options to capitalise on the market. And the resurgence of historical epics like Gladiator also bodes well.

Related QuestionsDo you get a lot of money for writing books?
Mary Hoffman -BioNot a lot. A writer gets a percentage of the money it costs to buy the book (ten per cent is one tenth of the money so you would get 30p on a book costing £3). This percentage is called a royalty. If it's a picture book or one with a lot of pictures, like Banana Books, you have to share your royalty with the artist, so you would get half that. In order to make a decent living, unless you have a big hit with a bestseller, you need to write a lot of books to make the pennies add up.
