If Ascent ceases development or goes in a direction that is not in the best interest of our players it is possible. However likely we will be opening a server based on another emu at some point in the future if we get enough players wanting that type of server.

This isn't necessarily overclocking the PSP since the CPU *IS* a 333mhz CPU. However it will be quite a drain on your battery, which is why the current PSP UMD games do not utilize this CPU speed. So far there have been NO reports of 333mhz harming the PSP, but this option is relatively new so still use at your own risk.

Most systems now have multiple emulators for them on PSP, below are my personal recommendations for each system I have tried:

First, its important to note that not all ROMs are legal. Some are commercial ROMs and illegal to have unless you own a copy of that game. Here at PSPUpdates, we will not allow discussion of how to obtain illegal ROMs. Note: Any post asking for or offering ROMs (or links to ROMs) on the open forum will be deleted. The most popular 8-bit Apple II emus are AppleWin and Apple Oasis, which run under PC Windows, and Apple-PC, which runs under PC DOS and includes support for Mockingboard sound. These programs can turn your PC into an enhanced Apple //e running at least as fast as the real thing using software from virtual disks (disk image files). There are also 8-bit Apple II emus for Macs (one, Catakig, emulates a II, II+, or IIe) and Amiga (Apple 2000).

Yes. Neither UAE nor Fellow emulate the AGA chipset. AGA, Advanced Graphics Architecture, is the 32-bit graphics standard used on the A1200 and A4000. This means that any software requiring AGA won't run under the emulator. So, some modern Amiga software, especially games, won't work under emulation. Check the programme's documentation for requirements. Happily, while many programmes take advantage of AGA if it exists, they will often run in a lower graphics mode, too.

Most PSEmuPro-based emulators use raw memory card images, which is the same format that pSX uses, simply with a different file extension. pSX can use the files, regardless of the extension, just select the file in the memory card configuration.

No. They can however be used to run illegal software. The emulators on this site are only intended for use with legal software.

A fully functional HP48 emulator by Eddie Dost called "x48" is available. It runs in X-Windows on any Unix based operating system like Linux or Solaris. However, it requires a ROM dump of an HP48 to run. Of course, due to copyright laws such a ROM dump cannot be distributed with the x48 package. Therefore, you must be the proud owner of an HP48 (S/SX or G/GX) in order to create your own ROM dump.

Althought emulators are hosted on a moltitude of web-sites, you may want to go to the developer's website(s) where you'll always find the very latest version!

If the emulator software satisfies the conditions for "free" under the licence, then it does not prevent the platform from being classified as free. However, if the emulator is non-free, then the platform becomes non-free. For example, if you are running GNU/Linux on top of a virtual PC created by VMware (a non-free PC emulator) than the GNU/Linux does not count as a free platform. If you reboot and run GNU/Linux directly on the hardware, then that is a free platform.

These are all devices that enable people to modify access cards to steal DIRECTV's signals without paying for them. An emulator uses the capabilities of personal computers to mimic the functions of an access card. Emulators connect to computers running software that grants unauthorized access to channels. Programmers are devices that reprogram access cards to alter which channels are received.

Some of them are free: HP-41E (for HP-48S/SX/G/G+/GX and HP-49G), TI-57E (for HP-48S/SX/G/G+/GX and HP-49G) and TI-95E (for Windows). So, no one can say that I don't give anything for free. I spent too much time and money on development and I don't see a single reason to give the other emulators (HP-41X + HP-IL, HP-42X, HP-71X + HP-IL, HP-1XE, various printer emulators) for free.

Installing all of them on a single HP-49G (not to speak about HP-49G+/50G) is too complicated (if not impossible, for various reasons and hardware/software design flaws made by HP/ACO/Kinpo) but the situation with HP-48GX (equipped with RAM cards, of course) is perfect. You just need some utilities for port management and you can have excellent multiple-emulator environment on a single HP-48GX. These utilities are free of charge for registered users.

Yes, what about it? From time to time, I receive a request to release them as open-source. Sometimes it sounds like I SHOULD do this because it is to be expected. Well, I SHOULD do only what I WANT to do. And I DON'T WANT to release anything as open-source because I have no reason to do this. Except in a few rare cases, I don't like this open-source concept at all so I will not participate. All my emulators will be closed-source forever. Don't waste your and my time asking such questions.

There are a number of terminal emulators available in the marketplace at a range of prices. Listed below are web sites for some free and some commercially available ones. The choice of emulator is dependent on the terminal type you are trying to emulate and the package that it is interfacing to. The best thing to do is to download a number of emulators and test them against your requirements.

Actually, the only reason I don't like talking about them is for legal reasons. Yes, you can start this legal debate and all that mumbo jumbo, but it isn't going to cut baloney. Simply put, I don't talk about emulators/roms (although you can personally e-mail me about them).
