Typically this indicates a problem with the regulator. Regulators are complex to troubleshoot, and we recommend replacing them or sending them back to Kato for repair. For repair or replacement parts, contact us at: Paralleling typically involves the governor, regulator, switchgear and other factors. As a general rule, if the problem is kW load sharing the issue is more likely with the governor. If the problem is with KVAR sharing, the issue is more likely with the regulator.

With over 40 years experience in custom HV equipment design and manufacture, I am smart enough not to waste my time on such a stupid approach to a process requiring 2 volts DC! The Arc (HV AC) process converts nitrogen in air into some nitrous compounds - no one in the "industry" has been able or willing to say what but silver nitrate is a likely result! There is a decided risk in comsumption of nitrates and thus the EPA limits them in drinking water to 10PPM.

The HV charge (20,000+ volts) might not be much reduced by just waiting a few hours (or days), especially if you are in a low humidity location and the tube, etc., are of good quality. You can, probably, _reduce_ the shock hazard by discharging the High Voltage at the anode. You can not, really, expect to eliminate the shock hazard. (See WARNING below.) Step 4 may result in a somewhat loud "SNAP" as the tube is discharged. Be prepared so you don't jump and break something.

Sometimes the tension of the spring on the speed governor is too low. To fix this issue, use a pair of needle nose pliers and bend the hook of the spring up a little to increase the tension of the spring. Another way of solving this problem is to loosen the two bolts on the speed governor and turn the speed governor either clockwise or counterclockwise until the desired voltage has been met. Also, the spring should have good tension with the governor. A loose spring will not yield good results.

Determine if the problem is in the generator or regulator by separately exciting the exciter field. Do this by stopping the prime mover and disconnecting the regulator from the exciter stator. Connect the exciter field to a 12-Volt battery with the positive lead on EF1 and the negative lead on EF2. Start the prime mover. If the generator is functioning properly, the problem is in the regulator.

Due to the smart controller of the AIR-X, wire size should not have a large effect on the regulation. The AIR-X uses the power lines to sense battery voltage, but before measuring the battery voltage, the AIR-X will momentarily stop charging.
