Yes you can. If you have a modem connected to your laptop, the Briefcase Assistant can update your laptop with the most current information from your home or office. All you need is a standard phone connection and Internet access. Remember though, the Briefcase Assistant can't run scheduled updates unless your laptop is turned on and an Internet connection is available to the modem.
