The majority of the pinnipeds we rescue are severely malnourished and suffer from respiratory infections. We also treat animals with wounds from fish hooks, fishing line, gill nets and propellers. Occasionally, we treat animals with wounds from gunshots or seal bombs.

Everyone is at risk for getting cavities throughout life. By the time most people are adults, 85 percent of people will have had a cavity! You naturally have bacteria (germs) in your mouth. The bacteria mix with your saliva and bits of food in your mouth to form a coating (dental plaque) that sticks to your teeth. There are acids in the plaque that wear away the teeth. These acids can get inside the teeth and create holes in the teeth, or cavities.

Video monitor problems are usually caused by mis-matches of the monitor and the chosen monitor profile. They are usually characterized by no video on the monitor (this could also be due to the system hanging) or un-synchronized video. If no monitor profile is available for your monitor you may need to choose a generic monitor profile. Before doing this, make sure you know what the maximum horizontal and vertical frequencies of your monitor are.

The answer is sometimes yes and sometimes no. Lets look at some of the reasoning you might have seen on the Internet or in books. Rescues are housebroken - They can be or maybe not. Sometimes rescues have lived their entire life outside in someone's yard chained to a fence. Rescue will sometimes foster these dogs, or sometimes kennel them. Even if they learn potty training in that situation, there is no guaranteed they will respect you home the same way.

In the U.S., the most common eye diseases among seniors are macular degeneration, glaucoma, cataracts and diabetic retinopathy. Age-related macular degeneration is the leading cause of low vision for people in the U.S. over 50; it accounts for almost 45 percent of all cases of low vision.

In general, different species are rescued with characteristically different problems. Among California sea lions, the most common problems are internal parasites, such as lungworm, roundworm and liverflukes; many of these are also found in domestic dogs and cats. One California sea lion passed a tapeworm that was 96 feet long! Another common ailment is pneumonia, often complicated by parasites. Other sea lions have an assortment of injuries, from net wounds to animal bites.

Vocalization serves several purposes in seals and sea lions just as in humans. Some animals, particularly the young ones, vocalize to get attention when they want food. Other vocalizations are signs of aggression and warning to other animals. Large male sea lions bark to advertise their dominance. Some animals may vocalize when they are stressed.

Although most Rescue Goldens are housebroken, they still require time, patience and training to fit into their new families. People who want to adopt because "they don't have the time to train a dog" should think carefully about how much time and commitment they have to give to any dog. Senior Goldens are often the best choice for individuals or families with busy schedules.

Communication! One partner wants to talk while the other needs time to think things through first; or one partner focuses on the facts and details while the other focuses on possibilities; or one partner is logical while the other emotional; or one partner likes things neat and organized while the other likes things open-ended and flexible. Neither is wrong but the differences create ongoing conflict.

Solution ? You will need rain gear! Be prepared. The course continues rain or shine. Only lightning storms result in a cancellation. We rarely cancel. Most sites do not have indoor shelter. Even in warm weather, you can develop hypothermia if it rains. Be smart, stay dry. Problem - "I'm too hot." The heavy jacket that was "just right" in the morning is now too hot in the afternoon sun. A long-sleeved shirt under a jacket or sweat shirt can be the perfect combo.

Most owners report a transmission "clunk" when letting off of the throttle just as the tranny does a 1-2 shift. Most dealers call this normal. TSB 67-71-47 describes a 3-2 part throttle downshift flare (replace 3-2 solenoid). Some owners with 4L60-E trans built before May 24, 1996/ Julian date 6145 may experience an engine speed flare of 1000-2000 RPM, during a part throttle downshift at 19-31 mph. This condition will not set any DTC's.

High blood glucose (hyperglycemia): There may be times when your blood sugar (glucose) levels go too high. This can happen when you are ill or under stress, eat too much, or have too little insulin in your blood. High blood glucose can cause headaches, blurry vision, frequent urination, increased thirst, and dry itchy skin. Ketones:Test your urine for ketones if you experience a blood glucose reading of over 240 mg/dl (13 mmol/L) are sick, or have any of the symptoms listed above.

mentioned above, the Colonial Schipperke Club is very active in finding homes for "pre-owned" Schipperkes. These are Schips who for reasons normally not of their making, have lost their people. They may be lost or stolen dogs, dogs who suffer from the deaths or divorces of their owners, or dogs who are given up for a variety of reasons by their original owners. Colonial members often provide foster care or brokering services to match up these dogs with new owners.

First of all, you will not be rescuing a Bearded Collie unless you are actually out visiting shelters or searching dog pounds. More likely you will be adopting from Bearded Collie Rescue or another organization that has rescued the dog in some manner (from kill shelters, abandoned, or even from people who advise they are taking the dog to a shelter and offering Rescue a chance to take it before they do).
