What is a dog or cat’s normal temperature?

Hill-Dale Veterinary Hospital, F.A.Q.'s
Every dog or cat has it’s own normal temperature, however usually it is between 101 and 102 degrees. The reason we usually take your pet’s temperature early in the hospital visit is that nervousness or excitement can cause it to increase above normal. By seeing your pet for regular yearly examinations and keeping good records we can more easily determine what your pet’s “normal” temperature really is. Any temperature over 103 might be cause for concern.

What is a dog's or cat's normal temperature?

The Kingsway Animal Hospital
Cats and dogs have a higher body temperature than ours, which is why they sometimes feel "hot" to the touch especially if you have cold hands. Their normal body temperature is 100.5-102.8 degrees F or 38.1-39.2 degrees C. The best way to see if your pet is running a fever is to take his temperature with a rectal thermometer. If your pet's temperature is much above normal and your pet seems out of sorts, you should contact your veterinarian immediately.

How long is the normal gestation period for a dog or cat?

Grassland Veterinary Service
The normal length of time it takes for a pregnancy is 59-65 days, with 63 days being the average. Dogs have an interesting way for predicting when they will deliver that no other species has. We suggest checking rectal temperatures on a pregnant dog 1 week before she is due to deliver. When the temperature drops to 99.0 or below, she should deliver within 12-24 hours. If she doesn't, then she should be examined by a veterinarian. Cats do not have this predictability.

What will the recovery be like for my dog’s neck after Wobblers correction surgery?

MSPCA-Angell:
Angell, a ventral (underneath the neck) surgical approach is used to stabilize all Wobblers. This approach causes very little post operative discomfort and does not involve direct spinal cord manipulation like the more common dorsal (top-side) approach to this condition. Because of this, dogs that have this surgery do not experience a set-back in their neurological function from their pre-surgery state and they are very comfortable the day after surgery.
