I think it sometimes does. I have talked to people that had no prior problem with tearstain until the puppy was about 5 months of age. Use hot, soapy water and rinse thoroughly with hot water. For tough cleaning jobs, add 1/4 cup of baking soda to 3/4 cup of water (double for Platypus 2) and shake for 30 seconds.
