Yes. Flora Vista has a fully-stocked library/media center that is available to kindergarten - sixth grade. Classes visit the library/media center each week to check out books. Students also have access to the Boost Program, a reading program available to help students improve their reading skills. There is a computer lab available for class or group work.

The Library of Congress is a research library, and books are used only on the premises by members of the public. Anyone over high school age may use the collections. All patrons using the Library's reading rooms and/or collections must have a user card with a photo on it. User cards can be obtained at the reader registration station in Room LM140 of the Madison Building by presenting a driver's license or passport and completing a brief self- registration process.

All libraries have an open schedule for student use and checkout. Hours and circulation rules vary from building to building. Library passes are usually required to enter the library. Since the implementation of AR, all school libraries have installed an automated circulation program to assist in the high volume of book checkout.

Reserve materials are generally located on the second floor of the library, along the back wall under the blue "Reserves" sign. A NIACC ID or Borrower Card is necessary to check out materials. Non-student users should stop at the Circulation Desk to have their card from a participating library activated before checking out materials for the first time.

The library does not, as a rule, carry any of the required textbooks used by an instructor unless the instructor puts copies of his/her text in the Reserve section. These texts are to be used in the library only.

Books may be checked out by USA Online students, but the borrower is expected to pay shipping charges (via UPS) and insure each return package for at least $100.00.

You may use another person's card to check out materials if you have the library card with you. Library cardholders are responsible for materials checked out to their card, so we ask that you use your own card for books you are taking out for yourself.
