The majority of our furniture is made from Rubber Wood, Fruit Wood (known in many areas as "Malaysian Oak") Our furniture is comparable to items found in High End showrooms and galleries, but without the ridiculous prices.

For the construction of our furniture we only use solid pine, pine with three exceptions: the chairs that are made of beech and the models in Uppsala Line that are made of a combination of pine frames, plywood sides and backs, oak shelves and tops and ome models of tables that are made with oak tops.

Superficial nicks and scratches that have cut into the finish film, or even cut all the way into the wood underneath, can be camouflaged with color treatment and waxing. Wax sticks in a variety of colors are available from the hardware store. Paste shoe polish applied with a cotton swab can be used to color the exposed wood. If the scratch is just on the top of the finish film and not very deep, a simple buffing with a furniture wax will restore the luster to the finish.

You can repair the split by using Epoxy Adhesive and clamping it together. The repair will be stronger than the original wood.

Most of our cribs are made of Pine wood from harvested forests in New Zealand. We also use Rubber wood from Malaysia and Sepetir wood from harvested forests in other Asian countries. We NO longer use protected wood species like Ramin wood from Indonesia in any of our furniture.

Our standard log is lodge pole pine, and is cut from dead standing timber. This timber is normally killed by fire or beetles. Pine beetles burrow just under the bark and eat the sap wood, killing the tree. Once the tree has died the beetle either dies or leaves the tree for new food. The tree then loses it's bark which allows it to dry without roughing.

The answer is that both are good. Neither solid wood nor veneer is, by itself, a measure of better quality furniture. If comparable craftsmanship is used, the quality of a solid wood or veneered piece of furniture should be the same. What is the best way to dust my furniture? The difference is simple. Kiln dried wood will not split or crack when taken from a humid climate such as Indonesia, into a dryer climate such as the USA or Europe. Furniture that is not made with kiln dried wood will immediately begin to deteriorate upon exposure to these drier climates. The result is furniture that cracks and splits and cannot be repaired because of continual deterioration. If you buy furniture that is not kiln dried you are making a huge mistake!
