DeBabelizer opens each frame as a separate file, and so must request each frame from the file. QuickTime, used primarily for movie playback, must page through the movie to reach that frame, then pass it to DeBabelizer. If possible, create shorter segments of the movie and then put them back together using a Batch Automation Save process.

You can Re-encode Mpeg2 movies to quicktime for FinalCut Pro using Cleaner5.0.2 using the following settings. There is no de-interlacing, so you don't lose anything. The files increase in size 10 fold, so make sure you have enough HD space. This procedure gives you quicktime movies suitable for use with final cut. image > image size constrain to 720*480, display size normal, do not deinterlace, field dominance-SHIFT DOWN Some have had good results with their decoder cards.

The most likely explanation is that you have rendered the movie at a higher resolution than your computer can play back with the QuickTime compressor (codec) with which the movie was rendered. Keep in mind that full-motion video at broadcast resolution can not be played back by most computers unless it was rendered with a QuickTime compressor designed for computer play back. Please see the "QuickTime Addendum" chapter of the documentation which discusses these issues in detail.

While there is much room for improvement in update speed, one factor is whether or not all writes are automatically forced to disk. By default, "autoSync" is enabled, which keeps the database file in a more consistent state, but can be very slow for large updates. Disabling "autoSync" can dramatically increase update speed, but exceptions during update can leave the file in an unusable state. So, modifying this option essentially trades off speed for recoverability.

QuickTime for Windows is what you want to submit. When authored on a Mac, ensure you “flatten” the movie which allows the QuickTime to be played back on a PC.

Not really. The reason is that only a couple of compression codecs support alpha channels which are needed to produce the effect that you see. These codecs use "lossless" compression techniques which maintain much higher image quality, but are not as efficient as lossy compression schemes like JPEG.

There are a number of reasons why this could be, but there is an easy solution to part of the problem. You can view the movies outside of the CD applications, go to the movies folder on the CD and load the movies directly into Movie Player. There is also an old-movies folder that contains Quicktime movies from the previous version of the book. In the meantime, check to see you have the latest Active X drivers and your graphics card drivers are up to date.

There can be two different issues when dealing with movie files: a low frame rate or a delay when triggering movies. These two problems have different origins: In the status bar of the NuVJ window, you can see the frame rate. If the frame rate is below 20 FPS (frames per second) it will not be smooth. In most case this problem is due to the decompression of the movie, which takes too much resources for your computer.

Click the Auto Naming Options button and set the naming parameters. Use any of the Original Name options and select the checkbox for Add cell number. If you are only processing one multiple-frame file, you can select one of the Use this + increment settings.
