Yes, you certainly may go home if you like, but since we plan our off-campus trips for Saturdays and because, as time goes on, most students enjoy being together as much as possible, relatively few students do take off on weekends. Any time you leave campus, however, your parents must provide a written request 24 hours in advance, come to campus and drive you home, or give us written permission for someone else to pick you up. All students must be back in the residence halls by 11:00 P.M.

ADon't allow a student to come to rash or quick decisions about withdrawing from school. Oftentimes, the problems that they are experiencing that would make them consider withdrawal can be solved with assistance. Encourage your student to talk to the faculty member with whom he/she is experience difficulty or a member of the student life staff. Other adults on campus can help the students weigh the difficulties that they are having and help them reason through the possible alternatives.

AIf a student misplaces his/her keys, they can get a replacement key for a few days while they look for them. If they are unable to find them, the door lock will be replaced. The charge for lock replacement is $50.

Closed weekends provide students with opportunity for quiet study and/or required attendance at all-school events. During a closed weekend, students are expected to remain on campus and may not have overnight guests. Other weekends, students may go to their own home or that of another student pending parental permission.

Allowing children to have more or less timeSometimes children will express the desire to spend more or less time with you. Allow them to do this if you feel it is what the child truly wishes. If you force a child to come every other weekend, they will begin to resent it. If you are the custodian and they wish to visit on a day that is not written into the agreement and you always refuse, the child will begin to resent it. You want some flexibility in your schedule and they want some in theirs.
