PTS manifests itself with clinical signs of swelling, dilation of the veins around the ankle bones, pigment changes in the skin of the lower leg along with subjective complaints of spontaneous calf pain and/or pain with standing/walking. The syndrome can present with symptoms ranging from mild severity to excruciating or incapacitating pain and swelling.
