Milpitas has a very proud tradition in its K9 program. We have one of the oldest programs in the Western United States.

Yes. We have a reserve officer program under the supervision of a police sergeant and lieutenant. All of Milpitas' reserves are unpaid and provide needed support to the Department. It is a good way for someone to make a contribution as a volunteer, or try out law enforcement to see if it fits as a career.

Traffic is one of Milpitas' most pressing problems. You only need to try to drive through town during the commute, or at lunch time. The officers do not have "quotas" and, as a matter of fact, quotas are illegal. They are charged with writing citations as means of educating the motorist that they have done something wrong, just as if your boss disciplines you at work for a policy violation. If you receive a citation you have three options to take care of it. 1) Pay the fine.

Ans : Yes, Gourdin is absoloutely safe, non-poisonous for both wild and domestic cats and dogs. It does not result in any side effects. Since cats (& dogs) have already been given human insulin, they can be given Gourdin also. However, we have not conducted any trials specifically on feline and canine diabetics.

Milpitas has several gangs in town. But, we have several officers in our Special Investigations Unit working with them to keep the problems usually associated with gangs out of town.

This therapeutic vaccine uses DNA expressing the human tyrosinase gene. The tyrosinase encoded by the xenogeneic (different-species) DNA used in this vaccine is homologous to canine tyrosinase and has been shown to stimulate an immune response to canine melanoma cells expressing tyrosinase. The use of DNA from a noncanine species results in tyrosinase that is not considered a self-antigen by the canine immune system, thereby stimulating a good immune response.

It takes anywhere from 1 to 3 years of training before the canine is considered for certification. Prior to the canine being tested, the handler must pass the NASAR SAR Tech II course, ham radio test and CPR/First Responder course. The handler and canine must then complete the NASAR Canine SARTech III test to be considered field operative for "live" searches. It will then be determined what other disciplines the handler and dog will be trained in.

Weekday Doggy Daycare - A DOGGY FAVORITE! Drop your pooches off in the morning between 7 - 9:30am. They'll romp and wrestle in our large enclosed outside play area and inside fun room with their pup pals until nap-time from 12 - 2 pm when they rest in individual crates. During playtime, we separate them into appropriate groups according to energy level and size. Pick them up any time before we close at 6:30pm.

We strongly believe in the powers of positive training and reinforcement, and holistic animal rearing. For dogs who are pullers or hard to control while on walks, we recommend headcollars such as Gentle Leader or Halti rather than collars that inflict pain or choke. We have also like no-pull harnesses such as te Easy Walk harness. Even the largest dog can be easily controlled by the smallest person with a headcollar or no-pull harness without pain or suffering on anyone's part.

The virus is very stable in the environment and can withstand high temperatures and a wide pH range. It is resistant to many disinfectants. For overnight boarding, puppies must be at least 20weeks old and have received at least two puppy (DHLPP) shots and a bordatella vaccination (rabies vaccinations are not required for young puppies).

Canine Companions for Independence uses Golden Retrievers, Labrador Retrievers, and crosses of these two breeds. Canine infectious tracheobronchitis (Canine cough) is one of the most prevalent infectious diseases in dogs. Fortunately, the majority of cases are not serious resolving on their own in 1 to 2 weeks. The main cause of canine cough is the airborne bacteria, Bordetella bronchiseptica. A dog with Canine Cough will develop a coarse, dry, hacking cough about five to ten days after being infected.
