I want to try to do the Xbox Linux project with a memory unit. I have Xbox Live on it and don't care for it anymore. Problem is my dvd drive won't detect any type of game/cd/dvd says not recognized. I want to use it for websurfing since I can't game on it anymore. Help If you can find a way to install Cromwell on the XBox BIOS, you could put the XBox hard drive into a PC, install Linux, and return the drive to the XBox. Can we configure SCC to not check-in the binary files? Where are such configurations done?

Jim Lamb : Team Foundation Server FAQ
Team Foundation Version Control provides a way to limit check-ins by setting up check-in policies that are evaluated before a check-in can take effect. The easiest way to do this is by authoring a policy that checks if the user is trying to check-in a binary file from a given folder structure and reject or accept it in accordance. If a file is under source control it inherently means that is read only and the only way to save an edit is to checkout or change the file properties back to write.

How can I back up files on CD-ROM?

Apple II Csa2 FAQs: 1Main-Start, Part 1/25 - Apple
Compact disk recording opens up many possibilities. Obviously, archiving software is one of them. Another is being able to record audio. In my studio, I've placed a lot of important material on analog tape; and, unlike the diskette situation, there is no doubt of the imminent danger of degradation. Burning the audio to CD would maintain the original quality, with the added bonus of random access. CDR also opens up business opportunities.

How do I set my Excel security settings to allow Data Curve Fit Creator Add-in to run?

Customer Support -- FAQ
Security is an important issue. Later versions of Microsoft Excel contain more thorough security checks. The Data Curve Fit Creator Add-in and supporting workbooks are digitally signed by SRS1 Software. This identifies SRS1 Software as the source of the documents and checks that the documents haven't been altered. Normally, when Excel encounters a workbook or add-in that contains macros (automation) then it doesn't allow the macros to run unless the user specifically allows it.

How does Subversion handle binary files?

subversion: Subversion FAQ
When you first add or import a file into Subversion, the file is examined to determine if it is a binary file. Currently, Subversion just looks at the first 1024 bytes of the file; if any of the bytes are zero, or if more than 15% are not ASCII printing characters, then Subversion calls the file binary. This heuristic might be improved in the future, however. If Subversion determines that the file is binary, the file receives an svn:mime-type property set to "application/octet-stream".

How can I set the prompt in the files section ?

news.answers/waffle-faq
Use the 'fileprom' static file parameter. Try 'fileprom : [$f] :' as an example. (it was undocumented before v1.65) If you use DSZ, it directly accesses the UART, and uses the FIFOs. By default, it turns them OFF when it finishes. Since Waffle doesn't reset the Fossil driver, it tries stuffing characters into a buffer that's turned off. Check your /waffle/system/dirs file. This error occurs if the user does not have access to the root file directory ('files:' in the static file).

WinMerge says "Binary files are different", but I am not comparing binary files?

If you are using WinMerge.exe (not WinMergeU.exe), then your files may be Unicode files. WinMerge.exe cannot handle Unicode files. Please try comparing files with WinMergeU.exe if you have Windows NT4, Windows 2000 or newer Windows version. Windows registry files (*.reg) are Unicode files (UTF-16 or UCS-2) -- see the question "I cannot merge binary files?" for a workaround.

Can CD-R writers create DVDs?

Hier finden Sie die aktuellen Infos zur DVD Technologie
No. DVD uses a smaller wavelength of laser to allow smaller pits in tracks that are closer together. The DVD laser must also focus more tightly and at a different level. In fact, a disc made on a current CD-R writer may not be readable by a DVD-ROM drive (see 2.4.3). It's unlikely there will be "upgrades" to convert CD-R drives to DVD-R, since this would probably cost more than purchasing a new DVD-R drive.

Can I protect files on a CD-R disc or a floppy?

Folder Guard - Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)
You can use Folder Guard to restrict access to the CD-ROM or floppy drive, but that would not encrypt the files on the CD or floppy disk. It means that if you take the CD or floppy to another computer, without Folder Guard installed on it, the disc or floppy would NOT be protected. If you want to protect the removable drive so that it would be protected even if you remove it from your computer, you need some sort of encryption software to do that.
