In some cases, the "squeak" might be something different causing the problem. It is not uncommon to have these "squeaks" as a home ages, due to the wood curing or home settling.

The sealer that is applied to the floors greatly improves the stain resistance; however, it does not make them stain proof. Common sense practices should minimize the possibility of staining the concrete surfaces. Do not allow liquids, chemicals, or other materials that could stain to puddle for extended periods of time on the surface. The application of a wax coat to the surface greatly improves its resistance to wear and staining.

To oil a floor, you just wipe it lightly with the oil supplied. As mentioned earlier, please make sure this is a non-chemical oil. Natural wood oils are healthier for the floor and for you. Many wood oils have a natural antibacterial action, as well as smelling nice.

These floors should not be considered maintenance free. They will need to be kept clean and clear of any debris that may scratch the surface. For interior jobs you will have a clear wax, also called a wear coat that will need to be reapplied based on the traffic and wear of the floors. We generally do not recommend McCloskey Special Effects to be used on floors. An alternative is to try to achieve the look you want using a quality floor paint.
