The Smart Cat Box ™ consists of a top box that holds litter and a tray that funnels urine into a removable urine reservoir. The top box holds the safflower litter and has slits in the bottom. The safflower litter will not aborb urine; instead, the urine passes through the slits in the top box and is collected in the urine reservoir. Feces are retained in the top litter container and will need to be scooped.

You can use regular bird-seed type safflower seed (not sunflower seed!) in your box but there are two characteristics you will notice. The regular safflower seeds are smaller and may fall through the openings in the litter tray and regular seeds contain a much smaller oil content so they will not last as long as our special NutraSaff and SeedTec litters.
