With the exception of the Student Enrollment Leaders Program, all scholarships offered by the Office for Merit-Based Scholarships require valid Massachusetts state residency. We are a state institution, benefiting from state tax dollars. Residents of the state are entitled to certain privileges at the University. One such is paying a reduced tuition rate. Another is the ability to qualify for merit scholarships.

There are a few, although most OSAC scholarships require that students live in Oregon at least one year prior to September 1 of the school year applied for (e.g., for the 2004-05 school year, students will have had to start living in Oregon no later than September 1, 2003). For dependent students, Oregon residency is determined by the parents’ state of residence. Eligible non-citizens who are Oregon residents are able to apply.

By being accepted for admission, you are automatically considered for the majority of merit-based scholarships for which you are eligible. Exceptions are career interest scholarships, which are based on interest in specific industries. Both ceremonies are similar in format, though the Grand Ceremony is more formal and includes lunch and campus tours. Some students will choose to attend both ceremonies if possible. Though we try to avoid holding Awards Ceremonies on the same day as the Grand Ceremony, we have a short time frame in which to have all the events, and must work with the dates that our host universities and colleges have available for the State Awards Ceremonies.
