All D/ESAM mixers utilize a program/preset architecture, just like a video production switcher. So editors can manage audio transitions the same way they manage video transitions, greatly enhancing productivity in the edit suite. Also, all mixer functions may be controlled via a serial data port using the industry standard ESAM II or advanced D/ESAM IV protocols.

The longevity of magnetic tape used for video and audio recordings depends on the materials used to make the tape, careful and accurate manufacturing processes, proper storage and handling procedures and correct recording practices. Buying a brand name does not guarantee a good-quality product, but increases your chances of having a product that was properly manufactured with good materials. Even then you might buy a bad batch, so test one first by recording and then view or listen to the tape.

You can decode one or two channel MPEG audio into AIFF or WAV format using iTunes. The resulting files should import correctly into editing programs. Here is the process to create AIFF files using iTunes.

Use the software that came with your burner. Specify that the burn will be an "audio CD". Drag the mp3(s) to your layout. That's it. I've tried using Pure Motion's EditStudio 5, but it doesn't seem to be able to handle the video. I would install Premiere Pro 2, but I have an older AMD CPU so it won't run (darn Adobe). The lines you're seeing are interlaced artifacts on a progressive scan monitor. What is interlacing? Interlacing was a solution to early technological constraints - the picture show on a TV is a series of dots, but early TV tubes couldn't draw the entire picture quickly enough, resulting in the top half fading before the whole picture was shown. So rather than display an uneven picture, the screen was divided into alternate lines, with each each half being drawn alternately.

Again, this is a very subjective question and you'll get a different answer depending on who you ask. Needless to say, there's a whole range of software to chose from and beginners often find themselves struggling with the free software bundled with their PC. This is typically not the best software available.
