Sure. We do, however, highly recommend you use a minimum 1.3 mega pixel, and preferably a 2.1 mega pixel or higher camera to take your shots with. Older cameras with lower resolutions will produce visibly inferior photos which produce inferior quality imprints.

No. You can take pictures with a normal film camera and then ask your local camera store to put the images on to a Photo CD. You can then upload images directly from the CD. Images stored on a Picture CD are usually at a resolution of approx 1024 x 1536 pixels (this is the width and height of the image) and in JPEG format. Mention that you require the images to be viewed on your PC. The quality of the pictures will be far better than is required to be viewed on the internet.

A Select the Add or Quick Add button from the Shopping Basket screen and go to the Pictures screen. Remove the memory card from your camera and insert the card into the card reader on your PC. The memory card will be automatically detected and a thumbnail view of the most recent folder from the card will be displayed. Alternatively, insert the card at any time. Go to the Pictures screen and locate the card's drive letter in the folder list.

No problem. There are a number of ways to have photos uploaded to your advert. Firstly you could ask around friends, family and neighbours. Someone will probably have a digital camera that you could borrow. They may tell you that they will have to download your photos from the camera to their own computer. This is no problem as they can either email them to you, save them onto a CD for you or even upload them for you. To upload them for you they will only need your MyKeys.co.

Submitted photos do NOT have to be digital photos from a digital camera. Any digital scan will do, as long as the end result is a JPG or JPEG file. You may submit scans of negatives, transparencies, or photographs taken with normal cameras.

There are many good digital cameras on the market. Look for at least 1-2 mega pixel resolution, flash, macro capability and a preview screen. SLR cameras are more accurate for close-up photos. Some (Sony for instance) also capture short video clips. Transferring the photos to the computer can be time consuming - look for a "Sans-disk" adapter or USB connection.

There are a couple ways. 1) Ask a friend with a digital camera or camera phone to take pictures of your dog and email them to you. Then upload those attached files to our site 2) Take pictures of your dog with a film camera and get a copy of the developed on a digital CD. 3) Find a friend with a photo scanner, bring over some printed photos and scan them. (Note that scanner create very big files, so you may want to select the option to save the photos for the web so they are easier to upload)

Some cameras are designed for this, so you should check your manual. It's rare to find this feature in high quality digital cameras, but lower quality multifunction cameras with CMOS sensors sometimes offer this. See, for example, AipTek. If your camera doesn't already support some webcam features, you may still be able to do it if you have a video capture card (or USB device) of some kind, by connecting the video out from your camera to the video in on your PC.

The good news is, unless you are shooting close-up pictures of jewelry, you don't need an expensive camera to take good product shots. If you are shooting pictures for use on websites and not for print, you can get a good camera for less than $200. The quality of your images is going to depend much less on the sophistication of your camera and much more on your lighting and how well you operate the camera.

All photos taken before October, 2000 were taken with either a Fuji MX-1200 or a Fuji Finepix 1400. Both of these cameras are 1.3 Megapixel, resulting in low resoultion pictures. All other pictures were photographed using a Nikon Coolpix 990, a 3.34 megapixel camera. I cannot recommend enough Nikon's digital cameras. They were developed with both the amateur and the professional in mind. If you are looking at purchasing a digicam, decide on the features you want before you start shopping.

Be sure your pictures are shot at a middle to high quality setting, with as little compression as possible.

Digital photos usually make excellent photos for collages and they are easy to submit online. You should use the higher resolution settings with lower compression. We suggest that you use at least a 2 megapixel camera for images used in our collages. If a photo you send can’t be used because of quality issues, we’ll let you know and request a higher resolution replacement.

Not necessarily. A person who has taken some good photos has demonstrated some skill with photography and most likely knows more than a person randomly selected off the street. However, a good photographer will figure out how to take some good photographs with almost any gear. Consumers should be interested in cameras that it will make it easy for them to take good photos in the widest variety of situations.

Many manufacturers offer proprietary lithium ion battery systems with their cameras. These are very sophisticated batteries with very long life. Sony's Infolithium battery system is perhaps the best example of this technology. In addition to offering very long life, this system can give an accurate measurement of the amount of operating time left on a charge. The negative side of lithium ion battery systems is that these proprietary systems tend to be very expensive.

The features that make a good camera for product photography are not necessarily the features that are important for other types of photography like portraits or everyday family photos. That's not to say that the camera you choose for product photography won't work well for other uses, but you may weight the relative importance of the various features differently.

Camcorders can only be checked out for school projects with permission from the Audio-Visual Supervisor. Currently there are no digital cameras to check out. Tape recorders are for building use only. Any good still camera with S-Video will be okay. You will also need a video card with the S-Video / Composite input (for example Radeon 9200) or a USB adapter(for example Belkin F5U208).
