The Technical Steering Committee consists of the chairs of all the HL7 Technical Committees and Special Interest Groups. Its primary function is to coordinate the work of the Technical Committees.Return to Outline

The Steering Committee ("SC") was established in 1997 by the people involved with the Purdue Initiative. The Steering Committee's goal was to address the issue of educational standards in Aromatherapy in the United States. The Steering Committee consisted of unpaid volunteers working on projects in the member's spare time. The first steering committee meeting was held at Synergia in Boston, in October 1997.

The Executive Committee consists of the elected officers of the group and certain members that are appointed by the Executive Committee, including the Technical Chair and the Membership Chair. The Executive Committee provides policy-level guidance including setting budgets and approving the expenditure of funds. The Executive Committee approves the formation of new Technical Committees or Special Interest Groups upon recommendation of the Technical Steering Committee.Return to Outline

The CT Steering Committee is composed of large-lot landowners within the Trail corridor, municipal and state representatives, land trusts, regional planning agencies, trail-users groups and other trail interests. The Steering Committee is responsible for providing input and guidance to the National Park Service on the development of the Study products. Participation on the steering committee, which meets quarterly, is open to those with an interest or stake in the trail.

The Steering Committee requested final examinations from all educators within the field of Aromatherapy with a view to determining whether a common body of knowledge existed and, if so, creating the exam along with grading guidelines for National standards.

The Discovery Farms Program is governed by a steering committee representing different farm and environmental organizations. Yes. All HL7 Canada members receive the latest version of the HL7 standard on CD-ROM. The price to purchase a single version of HL7 is the same as for an individual membership (which entitles you to copies of all current and future versions during your membership period). HL7 Canada members at the "organizational" level may freely share copies of the standard within their organization.

MCRUD Steering Committee meetings are open to the public and we always welcome new members. As stated above, our meetings are open to members of the alcohol beverage industry. However, we will not accept representatives of the alcohol beverage industry as voting members of the state wide Steering Committee. (Please see our written policy on this issue.) Meetings are typically held in Lansing, but sometimes will be held in other communities.

The committee should be made up of equal parts of community-based residents/organizations and local decisionmakers. A minimum of 25 percent of the community-based component must be community residents not serving in an official capacity, and the balance should be representatives of community-based (including faith-based) organizations who may or may not live in the community. The second component would comprise public (i.e., city, county, or state officials) and private decisionmakers.

You need a minimum of three people for an effective committee. There is no ideal maximum number of participants. Create subcommittees as your group grows. At the elementary school level it's ideal to have one parent and one teacher co-chair the committee to form links to both the Parent-Teacher Association and school staff. For high schools, it works best if the committee is co-chaired by one teacher and one student to encourage links between staff and students.

A Technical Committee, often called a "chapter committee" is the basic specification-writing entity in HL7. Its members are charged with developing and balloting proposed chapters in the HL7 specification. For example, the ADT/Finance committee writes chapters 3 (ADT) and 6 (Finance.) One special Technical Committee which does not write a chapter is the "QA/Data Modeling Committee.

HL7 is a standard for electronic data exchange in healthcare environments. It endeavors to standardize the format and protocol for the exchange of certain key sets of data among healthcare computer application systems. HL7 is accredited by the American National Standards Institute (ANSI) to write these standards. with almost all United States standards, HL7 standards are voluntary, consensus standards. There is no governmental mandate to use HL7, except in very limited circumstances.
