Naturally we expect college-level writing in this class. What do we mean by this? It should be legible and typed (for assignments prepared outside of the classroom). It should be in proper grammatical form, spelled correctly, expressed in complete sentences, clear, and "to-the-point" (translation = no B.S.) No. You, along with your work, must be present at every session. If you want someone to review the paper with you and help you find and explain errors, we can do that. However, our function is to teach, not to do your work for you. We may find some errors and leave you to find the rest, or we may help you learn to identify and correct your own errors. We may even provide you with some tips on how to proofread more effectively on your own.

No. Tutors will discuss your work with you and help you revise your paper, but they will not simply check your paper over for errors.

No and yes. A writing tutor is not an editor; she will not take your paper, correct it, and return it to you. Your writing is yours: to have someone else change it is unethical. However, your tutor will collaborate with you to improve your writing by explaining to you what needs to be improved and the ways you may accomplish that improvement. Keep in mind that most writers believe their papers grammar/spelling/mechanics problems are the most serious trouble spots in their writing.

No! WTS is not a correction service; you can't drop off a paper and pick it up corrected the next day. However, we can work WITH you, face-to-face, on your grammar.

The consultant will help you read through the paper and come up with ways to address the global grammar patterns present in the paper, but you will be the one to proofread your paper and come up with ways to fix your own errors.

All text is the author's responsibility and should be in final form by the time I see it. However, as the book progresses I can correct typos you spot or make other minor adjustments as you direct so that the final product is letter perfect.
