To get text on both the left- and right-hand pages of a spread, you first need to assign a text template to both sides of the spread. When you enter text for a spread it will automatically overflow from left-to-right and top-to-bottom. So to get a little text on the left-hand page and the rest on the right-hand page, insert carriage returns (using the Enter key) to space the text out so blank lines will force an overflow onto the second page.
