Q: Why aren't there public restrooms in "L" stations?

Chicago ''L''.org: Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)
Many, though not all, "L" stations were outfitted with public restrooms until the 1950s. The Dearborn Subway, opened in 1951 (but designed in the late 1930s and early 1940s) was the last line to open whose stations had public restrooms. The next line to be designed -- the Congress Line, opened in 1958 -- began the trend of omitting this feature in new stations. Since then, existing public restrooms have been closed, most in the 1970s.

What about public restrooms, i.e., urine?

The Barefoot FAQ
I avoid urine too, but that's due to the "yuck" factor that we were all brought up with and NOT due to any science. Well, urine is NOT a toxic waste product and this has been scientifically proven. 95% of urine is water, 2.5% consists of urea and the remaining 2.5% is a mixture of minerals, salt, hormones and enzymes. Toxic substances are being removed from the body through the liver and intestines, through the skin and through the outbreath.

Well for one, we have enormous objects that can block and reflect FM and TV radio waves. We call them mountains! The land in much of rural New England is very rocky and hilly. And as if that were not enough, radio stations tend to be located in or near the urban populations they are licensed to serve. If you live between them, in rural outlying areas, no station is near you and very few come from the same direction.
