They are not interchangeable in sizes 1/2"-2". Dimensionally they are different as well as the "union nuts" are of a different thread and will not screw on one another. Sizes 2 1/2"-4" are dimensionally identical and also share the same union nuts,therefore they are interchangeable in those sizes only.

DEI's three way valves are designed for diverting applications. Using them for mixing applications will cause premature wear of the seats and will not produce an equal percentage flow curve. It is DEI's recommendation to pipe the valves for diverting applications only. To use a diverting ball valve for a coil application, simply pipe the valve before the coil (vs. after the coil as you would a mixing application). Mostly A2 Golfs/GTIs/Jettas/GLIs (8v & 16V) are affected. First make sure everything "obvious" is ok: vacuum (hoses, pipes, intake), electrical connections, tuned up right, spark plugs, distributor, good tank of gas, etc. These are by far the most likely causes of this annoying problem.

Use any type of Automatic Transmission Fluid (ATF). Don't worry about the exact brand or type, it will all work, and can even be mixed. To add fluid, remove the lexan cover on the HPU, locate the "filler stack" in the left front corner of the reservoir. There is a round plug sealing the filler stack. Remove the plug and add fluid to the full line on the reservoir. Note: add fluid only with the trim tabs fully retracted (up).

Changing the fluid in your power steering system will extend the life of your power steering pump and rack. We recommend having a Power Steering flush performed. Which will change almost all of the old fluid. When the P/S fluid gets dirty, it can no longer lubricate as it was designed.
