We think this is necessary to allow people to be able to express their opinions with fear. Anonymous access can be enabled simply by adding a permission for 'Anyone' to browse particular projects. It only requires a prefix if you have no 'selected project' - this is a somewhat amorphous JIRA notion, a bit of magic if you like. We are developing a shopping portal system (preview here) and required an online Cold Fusion based wysiwyg editor. Although there are several available none appear to be easily redistributable, so we decided to create our own. Having done so it seemed that other developers would benefit from such a system.
