Frequently Asked Questions

Why do you allow anonymous letters to the editor?

New Page 1
We don't publish anonymous letters, we have a name and contact details for all letters that are used. We do, however, allow people to use pen names. We think this is necessary to allow people to be able to express their opinions with fear. Regrettably some of our politicians are all to willing to victimise people who hold different points of view to their own.

How do I allow anonymous access of JIRA?

Frequently Asked Questions
Anonymous access can be enabled simply by adding a permission for 'Anyone' to browse particular projects. It only requires a prefix if you have no 'selected project' - this is a somewhat amorphous JIRA notion, a bit of magic if you like. Basically, if you have done something recently, that project becomes your selected project. JIRA tries to 'guess' which issue you are talking about given the selected project.

Any other guidelines you can offer me about writing letters to the editor?

Student Statesmanship Institute > Ambassador League > Freque...
Word choice is key when writing letters to the editor. It's very easy to offend people without meaning to, and it's important that even if someone is wrong, we show them the truth in the most loving way. If the truth is not shared lovingly, people think ill of the bearer of truth and forget about what he/she actually said; therefore, any truth that was shared is forgotten, and any good that could have been accomplished is lost.

Of course. Letters can be in response an item in a particular issue or they can bring up new topics. Please be constructive and non-confrontational. One might think from our name that we are about showing both sides of an issue. On the contrary. We feel that there are not two sides to every issue or, to put it another way, if there is good and evil we don't have to give equal time to evil. By extension, the "Establishment" and "Right Wing" have the mass media to present their sides.
