Microsoft has set up 2000 so that program "controls" will not work unless an entry is made in the Windows Registry saying the they were properly installed. Also, some of the support programming is in DLL files (which required for the program to be able to talk to the hardware). Not all drivers are created equal. On my Laptop which has a Savage IX chipset, the Windows ME driver scales in hardware but the Windows 2000 driver does it in software. Well, it seems I was mistaken in my original response to this question. Several WinME users have reported that they have no trouble running their older DOS games in this environment, though I still have yet to hear back from anyone running Win2K. Apparently WinME does provide enough DOS compatibility to be able to run these older games, though I'm currently not aware of what needs to be done (if anything) to get it working properly. Anyone care to enlighten me? =)

While logged onto Windows 2000 as a User, open the ADDAPT shortcut and check the Run as different user box. When you click the shortcut, you will be prompted to enter a user name and password.
