All of the videos sold by Amazon Books and Video Universe follow the 60Hz, NTSC format. This is the video format used in North America. These tapes will not play on most video machines in Europe or other countries that use PAL, SECAM, or other video standards.

If your video is digital (for example mini DV or Digital 8 tapes), you can capture your video and save it on your computer yourself. You will need a video capture program to do this. Most PCs come with a program called Windows Movie Maker and Macs come with iMovie. These will allow you to capture a video tape to your computer. Just follow the instructions from these applications to capture your video.

Unfortunately we do not transfer NTSC video tapes. We only transfer PAL and SECAM video at this time.

In general it is recommended that all video tapes should be replaced after a period, no greater than 20 passes of each tape. That being 10 record and 10 play back.
