To use TVGuardian with multiple devices without having to disconnect one to use the other, you will need to purchase an Audio/Video Switch Box. The allow you to switch between multiple sources (DVD Player, VCR, etc.) by pushing a button. An Audio/Video Switch Box can be found at Radio Shack and other electronics stores. TVGuardian works with virtually all TV shows, DVDs (see DVD info below) and videos, including videos you have recorded of qualified TV shows or movies (not home movies).

The Swann Black Knight Camera receiver comes with an AV cable which plugs into the Video and Audio connectors on your TV or VCR. Long answer: The minimum requirement for reproducing audio and video on DVD is an MPEG video stream and a PCM audio track. (Other streams such as Dolby Digital audio, MPEG audio, and subpicture are not necessary for the simplest case.) Basic DVD control codes are also needed. At the moment it's difficult in real time to encode the video and audio, combine them with DVD-V info, and write the whole thing to DVD. Even if you could do all this in a home recorder, it would be extremely expensive.

Everyone wants these to be TV's, but in most instances they are actually more closely related to the VCR. In a lot of models the only remote control that will satisfactorily work combo sets is the manufacturers original. You will only need a Digital Set Top Box for any television that you want digital service on. For all other televisions in the residence you can hook them directly to the wall (cable drop) and get Premium Cable at no extra charge.

The only codes JVC has for operating other manufactures equipment are listed in your manual. We can only suggest that once you have tried all codes listed for a specific brand if they do not work, then try all codes listed for all brands. While this remote can operate many major brands of TVs and Cable Converter boxes, it is possible it may not work with your specific products. This is due to the fact that some manufacturers change their remote control code frequencies periodically.

It's generally not a good idea to route the video from your DVD player through your VCR. Most movies use Macrovision protection, which will cause problems such as a repeated darkening and lightening of the picture. See 1.11 and the Video RF section of 3.2 and for more info.
