First check that your speakers are connected, turned on and that the volume is up. Next, check your headset if it is plugged into your computer. If you still don't hear anything then you may not have a soundcard in your computer.

Under the "Tools" menu in a Centra event select the "Centra Audio Wizard". On the third screen, click the "Record" button and speak clearly for 5 seconds. The wizard should play your voice back automatically without further action from you. If you can't hear your voice, and the volume slider is all the way up, you'll need to check your physical microphone jack connection into your sound card in the back of your computer.

Download and install the latest drivers for your sound card. These are usually available from the manufacturer's website. It could also be a conflict with the audio capabilities of your modem. You can disable the voice modem driver in Win 95’s Control Panel | Multimedia | Advanced | Audio Device | Properties | Settings. Click on "Do not use audio features of this device." Or, remove the device entirely.

The usual problem is that there are too many music players installed, and your computer don't know which music player to use. You may have erratic behavior if you have Quicktime installed. Problems include: Only playing 1-2 seconds of each song before quitting or garbled sound when playing. This should solve the problem, if not you may have another unrelated configuration problem with your computer. Most everyone uses Windows media player.

Hearing is a series of events in which the ear converts sound waves into electrical signals and causes nerve impulses to be sent to the brain where they are interpreted as sound. The ear has three main parts: the outer, middle, and inner ear. Sound waves enter through the outer ear and reach the middle ear, where they cause the ear drum to vibrate. Check the computer's volume control. Double-click the icon that resembles a speaker on the lower-right hand side of your screen. Check to make sure if any of the selections are "mute"-ed. Check the volume on the Media Player application itself. There should be a volume control located on the Media Player itself. Make sure it's not "mute"-ed. Whenever I try to access the site after receiving an alert, it always seems to be "playing to a full house" and I can't access.

If you have Microsoft NetMeeting you should use the Audio Tuning Wizard to test your audio settings. The Audio Tuning Wizard is found under the Tools menu item in Microsoft NetMeeting. Check the speaker setting in Microsoft NetMeeting. Make sure the speaker is checked "ON" and that the volume slide bar is high enough (see graphic below).

The Kansas Legislature authorized the Kansas Commission for the Deaf and Hard of Hearing (KCDHH) to provide Safety Communication Visor for vehicles regularly driven by persons who are deaf or hard of hearing. The purpose of the visor is to help law enforcement officers 0r emergency response personnel to quickly identify drivers who are deaf or hard of hearing and may have special communication needs. There is a fee of $5 per visor.

Firstly ensure you have selected the same input that you have used to connect the external equipment to the receiver. For example you will need to select the DVD input on the receiver if you have connected the DVD player to the input labeled DVD on the back of the receiver. If you have connected the video output from your equipment (e.g. DVD player) directly to your TV ensure you have selected the correct AV channel on the TV.

The QuickTime plug-in is used to play most of the audio in the course. If you cannot hear audio in an activity, you may be able to resolve the issue by changing a certain QuickTime setting. The Longman courses use globally accepted installation software called "Install Anywhere." There are no known issues at this time preventing the custom built installer from functioning properly.
