If you do the "Hardware Modification" with a modchip that selects between Microsoft's BIOS and Cromwell, then you could care less that XBox Linux is an option on the Dashboard. If your mod chip has a switch that lets you choose between an alternative Linux friendly BIOS (ex Cromwell) and Microsoft's BIOS, then XBox Connect will work fine.
