Can I place a book on Electronic Course Reserves?

Daniel Webster College :: FAQs :: Library Services FAQs
That depends. If the item is an ebook from one of our electronic collections (such as Safari Tech Books Online, Xrefer Reference Collection, or the ACLS History E-Book Project), then we can link to it from your course reserve page. And if a book is freely available online, we can certainly point to it. However, we cannot take a physical book and scan it in for Electronic Course Reserves, as this would be a violation of Copyright Law.

What is the difference between GIS and a traditional map?

New Braunfels, TX - Official Website
Both GIS and traditional maps represent the real world. One way of thinking about it is that the GIS is the data while the map is the picture. The end result of GIS analysis is often a map, or cartographic output, but it is only one of many output types. Once created, a traditional map cannot be changed. However, as an integrated system, a GIS allows users to ask new questions of a database and visualize answers.

What is the difference between minimally invasive knee replacement and traditional knee replacement?

CCMIS Frequently Asked Questions About MIS
In traditional knee replacement, an approximately 10 to 12 inch skin incision is made centered over the knee. This is followed by making an incision into the quadriceps tendon above the knee, down the side of the kneecap and two inches below the joint and then the kneecap is flipped 180 degrees and off to the side (everted). The knee is then bent up to expose the bones of the knee for resurfacing with the knee prosthesis.

What is the difference between minimally invasive hip replacement and traditional hip replacement?

CCMIS Frequently Asked Questions About MIS
The difference is in the size of the skin incision and, more importantly, how much muscle and tissue is cut to put the total joint components in. Cutting less muscle results in less pain, less swelling and potentially a quicker recovery. No, the same components are used in MIS hip replacement surgery that are used in traditional surgery. They are just put in through smaller incisions in the skin and muscle using specialized instruments.

What's the difference between the SDO and traditional orthotics?

FAQ Orthotics, Plantar Fasciitis, Foot Pain
The SDO uses fluid silicone to guide the foot into its best position on the ground naturally. A traditional orthotic confines the foot to a pre-set position and tries to control the foot through the footstep. The SDO is the only orthotic in the world that moves with the motion of the arch and cushions the end of the motion where the foot gets ready to move off. A traditional support stops the motion abruptly, which makes it impossible for most people to tolerate beyond the first 2-4 months.
