Not to worry! It's not uncommon for some mortar to get into the texture of the glass design during installation, and is easily removed during the mortaring process. Sometimes a small amount of mortar, or a haze may be left behind after the mortar is cleaned up. Generally, all that's needed is a little white vinegar to clean it out if any is left behind after the installation.

The mortar mix can vary, depending upon the sand used and other factors, however a typical mortar mix in the Perth region is 6 parts good sharp yellow brickies sand, 1 part lime and 1 part of cream (off-white) cement.

NO. Concord films will only adhere to smooth glass surfaces. The films will not adhere properly to glass blocks, textured, sandblasted or other types of non-smooth surfaces.

A material composed of sand and cement (and possibly other additives) used to build brickwork or blockwork with, can also be applied as a screed or a render, screed is a mortar applied to a floor, render is a mortar applied to a wall. A screed is also a term used for batten nailed to the floor for the purposes of getting a flat application of mortar.

Obviously, you want to avoid the kind of damage described above, and in order to accurately recreate the original mortar you typically have to have the mortar analyzed. Although a building constructed before 1871 was undoubtedly pointed with lime mortar (because portland cement wasn't even available until that year) the years after 1871 are a grey area.

Products with phosphoric acid are commonly used. The acid disolves the cement in the debris and makes it much easier to remove. Beware of any side effects on surrounding stucco and IG seals.

NOTE: SDR stands for Standard Diameter Ratio and SDR35 means the diameter is 35 times the thickness of the pipe wall. Review the specifications required by the regulatory agencies in your area. While SDR 35 pipe is classed as a free flow type of pipe it has been used for pump fed pipe lines for decades. Pressure rated pipes will rate a schedule 40,80 etc., and are typically water transfer pipe. Follow the Pipe Length Chart for system satisfaction. Remember, these figures are maximum guidelines.

Hydraulic lime mortar is a lime mortar that hardens in damp or even wet conditions through a chemical reaction rather than exposure to air. A Stained glass, Art glass or Leaded glass window is created from individual pieces of glass cut to size and shape and joined together with lead in between the pieces.
