Rumble Road™ speakers are water-resistant but not waterproof. The speakers feature injected plastic cone material and are sealed tightly within the spotlight enclosure with heavy rubber washers. The tight mesh of the stainless steel grille covers also helps keep the system dry. MHI has conducted extensive, successful tests for water resistance, and customers have not reported any weather-related malfunctions. MHI gives you the option to order either way.

The current-generation Premium amplified and Limited non-amplified systems deliver powerful, clear audio response. The Premium produces 46 watts peak power per channel into highly efficient 4-inch RCA coaxial speakers. For both models, our quality speakers are large enough to create good bass response.

MHI’s non-amplified Limited model works with any conventional AM/FM car stereo system (either common ground or bridged) to provide high-quality sound on the go or while parked. Based on the successful Rumble Road™ Premium amplified speaker system, the non-amplified Limited speakers are easily installed on handlebars, spotlight mounting bars, luggage bars, forks or crashbars.

Many of our customers mount Rumble Road™ speakers just inside the windshield, on the handlebars. As a guideline, allow for the 3" depth of the speaker enclosures, which are approximately 4.75" in diameter, and a standard 3/8" mounting bolt. By turning the mounting clamp opening so that it faces the seat versus the windshield, you can typically gain an additional two inches of clearance. Rumble Road™ speakers can be wired either directly to a 12-volt battery, through a user-supplied switch and fuse, or to another switched and fused 12-volt source on your bike. Most of our customers wire the speakers to an existing 12-volt accessory line, headlight power line or other switched accessory on their bike, based on the generalized instructions provided in our installation manual.

You certainly can! Some of our customers have cleverly installed "quad" mounts — a pair on the handlebars and an opposing pair astride the passenger seat. If you still can’t quite picture it, this approach is beautifully illustrated by one of our customer testimonial montages. Each pair of Rumble Road™ Premium speakers draws 5 amps peak from the battery.

The powder-coating process creates insulation properties that could restrict the flow of power to your Rumble Road™ speakers. MHI encloses ring lugs with each boxed pair of black speakers. To ground the speakers properly, insert one of the two ring lugs supplied on the uncoated mounting stem of each speaker, and ensure that the wire is attached to a solid ground.

The headphones feature a 3.5 mm plug that allows you to connect to a variety of audio devices—such as CD, DVD and MP3/digital audio players, and even your desktop or laptop computer. You can hook up to your home stereo system, using the stereo adapter plug that comes with your headphones. You can also use your headphones to connect to in-flight entertainment systems; however, you may need to purchase a separate adapter to accommodate certain airline plugs. Yes.

Please read your user manual, and follow the instructions connecting your speaker system carefully. Using Edifier's 3 Audio connecting color cables (3.5 Stereo Headphone plug converter to 2 RCA) connect your speakers to the computer's Sound Card as in the illustration shown below. Yes. Besides the two speakers that come standard with each unit, there are audio connections on the back of each unit for additional speakers. These two additional speakers would need to have their own dedicated amplifiers since the sockets on the iCEBOX are “line voltage”.

On the rear of every amplifier there are either one or multiple output jacks. The outputs vary by model, but typically will be in the form of RCA, Speakon, Balanced XLR, and Banana binding post. Simply choose the output type on your amplifier and connect it to the input on your speaker.

One of the keys to getting the most out of your audio investment is choosing gear that will go to work for you now, and won't become obsolete as your system grows. Most car audio amplifiers boast a design flexible enough to keep them in the game as your set-up expands. If you go with a 4-channel amplifier, powering a pair of front speakers and a subwoofer is a breeze. You'll simply want to run your amp in what we call "true" 3-channel mode.

To ensure as consistent a look as possible, MHI completes the black Rumble Road™ kit with matching black clamps and nuts. In addition, two of the four supplied washers are black. The built-in threaded mounting stem is uncoated metal and is not conducive to powder-coating; the uncoated stem is used to ground the black speakers.

WMVHD files, typically created for playback on the XBOX360, can contain a 5.1 audio stream. If you play such a file on a computer that only has two speakers then you will only hear the sound from two of the six channels. This causes for example the voices (center channel) to be almost unhearable. The solution is to downmix the 5.1 channels into 2 channels. There are two ways to do this. You can either use AC3Filter or ffdshow. In ffdshow audio decoder configuration, go to the 'Codecs' page.

To eliminate this open your audio settings window (Playback) and mute the microphone slider by clicking on the square box next to the word "mute". This will put a check mark in the box muting your audio. It does not affect your microphone audio into the Echolink and internet. [ Top ]

USB Audio drivers implement a subset of the 1.0 USB audio spec. Generally, simple USB audio devices compliant to USB audio spec 1.0 on www.usb.org work well with Solaris 10 or later. However, USB audio devices usually have a very short shelf life and many devices that the Solaris USB audio driver supports are no longer available. One exception is the Griffin iMic Audio adapter. The best method is to utilize an Aux-In on an existing audio system. There are many companies such as Peripheral, USA Spec, Soundgate, Blitzsafe, PAC and others that offer Aux-In adapters for various radios. The easiest method is to use an FM modulator, but most FM modulators are susceptible to interference and have a generally low sound quality. The system can also be hooked up directly to an aftermarket amplifier or audio processor.
