I use Adobe Illustrator, a high-end vector-based graphics program. Believe it or not, creating those little stick figures require an expensive design program and years of experience. Illustrator gives me the smooth blocks of color and nice lines that I think add a lot to the OOTS look. Plus, it allows me to save a series of frequently-used poses, which cuts down my production time. Top

On one condition: that icon MUST be free for anyone to use. It really pisses me off when I see people get angry or snide because someone used "their" icon without permission, and "their" icon is something from my comic. Don't get me wrong. When I see people using my art on LiveJournals or forums as avatar art, it's REALLY flattering, but understand that just because you take my art and crop it and maybe add a few words or animate it doesn't make it yours.

Pretty damn far. I have ideas for story arcs that will last at least five years, though I don't have individual strips written more than a few days or weeks ahead. Keep in mind that although OOTS has a joke-a-day, it has plotlines that are set up far in advance of their resolution. OOTS does indeed have a finite lifespan, however, and I already know what the last panel of the last comic will be, so don't expect it to linger around forever. Top

It's all hand-drawn, with basic mechanical pencils, office-variety pens, and white-out. Post-production used to consist of typing dialogue in Microsoft Word and pasting speech bubbles onto the strip by hand. Nowadays, I've slightly modernized the post-production process by relying more on Photoshop.

First of all, though he is known as a cold and "unamused" hermit, Lovecraft wrote parodies and had fun with his friend writers. Humor is not incompatible with his universe. And as many of his fans, I was marked deeply by his work and admire them, but after years of faithful adoration, I suppose I can take some distance and try to have fun with the rest of HPL's fans/readers out there. Of course this brings me to deal with un-politically correct subjects, such as death or religion.

mentioned in 22.030, GL_TRIANGLE_STRIP is generally recognized as the most optimal primitive. If your geometry consists of several separate triangles that share vertices and edges, you might want to convert your data to triangle strips to improve performance. To create triangle strips from separate triangles, you need to implement an algorithm to find and join adjacent triangles.

The font used for dialogue is Gosmick Sans. The sound effects are Damn Noisy Kids. The DVD was ripped to file using DVD Decrypter, from which we do frame-by-frame viewing and screencaps using VirtualDubMod. Well, at least that's what most of us do. One of the other Comic Irregulars ripped the DVD using some Mac software and views and screengrabs using some other Mac software. Two of us assemble the comics using Photoshop. Three of the other guys use Inkscape. And the Mac guy uses Comic Life.

SafeHavens" and "On The Fastrack" are printed in newspapers around the country. They are available on the King Features web site http://www.kingfeatures.com/comic with a two-week delay. Fastrack Sunday strips are available at the Seattle P-I site; Safe Havens does not have a Sunday strip. Please note: if you are a subscriber to King Features 'Daily Ink' service, Bill makes a little money from his daily strips, too.

Originally DT was meant to be single stand alone strips like Peanuts only funny, once again that kind of died when i started using plots and storylines, hence the change into a more comic book-pageish type of format.

If the strips are not past their expiration date, check to make sure the date on the analyzer is set correctly. To check the date: To change the date, follow steps 1-4 above, but press the "Next" button followed by the "Enter" button to change the date. (Or you can turn the CardioChek off and turn it on and watch the display until the date is displayed.

Some people find that nasal strips such as Breathe Right provide some relief. They look much like Band-Aids and are worn across the nose. The springing action in the strip can help to open up the nasal passages and improve breathing.

A - They are strips of six to eight contact points from which electrical activity from your brain is recorded. They lie on the surface of the brain rather than in the brain tissue. A small hole may be drilled in the skull in order to place the strip electrodes.

Scott is working on a CD compilation of all the 21CF strips, working with the people who did a CD for 'Gene Catlow'. Scott is going back to the old strips and cleaning up the lettering and restoring lost details before that happens. When it's available, we'll post details here. Update- 08/06: Scott finished the relettering of the early strips.

Don't panic. This is normal. Steri Strips are meant to stay on for a few days at most. At this point, you have two options. If the wound is not draining or red, simply leave the Steri Strips off. If you want to protect the area you can reapply the Steri Strips over your incision site perpendicularly to the incision. While the Steri Strips are in place, you can place Aquaphor? or Bactroban? ointment over them.

People without health insurance can check with a local community center or clinic to see if they can obtain free or reduced-cost test strips. Unfortunately, the ADA is not aware of any manufacturer that offers a compassionate use program for test strips. People with health insurance that does not adequately cover test strips have fewer options.

Most every Sunday newspaper comic strip is colored by the same company, located in upstate New York. Using the numbers from a color key that they provide, I take a photocopy of my black and white artwork and indicate what colors I want where. In the last few years, a number of cartoonists have begun coloring their strips themselves using Photoshop, or some other method, to give themselves a bit more control over the look of their art.

Generally, the funny ones where there is an interesting and distinctive voice. Strips with generic humor have never really appealed to me as much as the more quirky ones. Bloom County, The Far Side and Calvin and Hobbes were all favorites of mine before they ended.

Lack of talent, lack of drive/dedication, lack of confidence... take your pick. The strip is far from perfect, artistically, but we're much better cartoonists now than we were Back Then. We always had the "ideal look" of the strip firmly in mind, we just weren't able to render it that way, and didn't feel like dumping a hideously ugly version on the masses.

Almost all of them. In a deadline-driven business, most syndicated cartoonists haven't the luxury of asking themselves, "Is the work any good?" Instead, like people everywhere, we ask ourselves, "Is it good enough?" Success is measured in percentages. I never, ever make fun of my wife, Jane Pauley. Truthfully, I'd love guest strips...then I could run one of those esteemed guest weeks that I covet so dearly in other comics. ;)
