The GGRA currently has more than 700 members in the Bay Area. With an average of 45 employees each, GGRA member restaurants contribute approximately 31,000 jobs to the San Francisco economy! The Bay Area restaurant community is largely comprised of small, often family-owned neighborhood businesses. GGRA offers these businesses the resources needed to run their businesses more effectively, which, in turn, enables them to offer diners top-flight cuisine, attentive service and reasonable prices.

GGRA offers cost savings programs to its members. In 2004 those programs included significant discounts in group worker's compensation, credit card processing, payroll processing, recycling and food safety certification classes. In 2005, GGRA has included two marketing programs for its members. A printed dining guide featuring color photos has been published by WHERE Magazine, and a web-based dining guide is now part of the new GGRA Web site.

GGRA supports the restaurant industry through education programs, legislative advocacy and community involvement. GGRA’s education programs help restaurateurs and service personnel stay up-to-date on industry regulations and health and safety requirements. In addition, GGRA is developing a program with area colleges to offer English as a Second Language classes to employees of member restaurants.

High school registration is step toward 100% registration and ensuring the integrity of elections through clean and complete voter rolls. A systematic registration system that registers everybody once and only once helps eliminate duplications and omissions on the voter rolls makes it less likely that people will be able to vote multiple times or be unfairly prevented from casting a ballot.

By creating a pool of money that can only be spent within our community, the PLENTY helps to insulate our community during times of economic stress by keeping wealth at home. The PLENTY is not an invisible or electronic currency - it can only be spent by people making face-to-face exchanges for real goods and services. By bringing producers and consumers into such close contact, the PLENTY places renewed focus on cooperation, neighborliness, conviviality, frugality and self-reliance.

Industry Direct is an important model for regional economic growth. It demonstrates the power of business and the community to work together to capitalise on the exciting opportunities offered by major initiatives, such as the Australian Marine Complex. By promoting the capabilities of local small business, Industry Direct has the potential to generate growth and fresh jobs in a local community which suffers from high levels of unemployment and encroaching industrial development.

WhizzCar can ease the traffic and parking congestion in your neighbourhood and improve our air quality by reducing harmful vehicle emissions. This is a result of having more new model cars and replacing privately owned cars with WhizzCar to have fewer cars on the road.

The first and second year interns make a total of at least five (if not more) individual topic presentations and one combined summary presentation of their research in July. All reports are then posted on the internet at www.communityscholars.org, as well as published in print.

People who go through CERT training have a better understanding of the potential threats to their home, workplace and community and can take the right steps to lessen the effects of these hazards on themselves, their homes or workplace.

All proceeds (100%) benefit the not-for-profit (501c3) Western Museum of Mining and Industry, so they can better educate our children and interested adults about mine safety, science and engineering, mining heritage, and the role of Western industry in the development of America.

Switch is a flexible Community Awareness Program designed to meet the different needs of different communities. Switch becomes the "umbrella" under which all a community's wellness and fitness initiatives can find a focus. Communities buying a Switch Community License receive the license to use Switch for one year and includes the Switch Community Public Relations Kit, consultation, materials and messaging to promote health and fitness awareness in their community.

Partnerships directly benefit children by giving them positive role models. Partners give students the incentives they need to excel. Your business can prepare students to enter the work force by developing career awareness and showing them how business operates. Partners In Education makes for a tightly knit community since businesses and schools work together to reach a common goal -giving students a well-rounded education.

The World Affairs Challenge illustrates the local community's increasing role in the international global economy and the need for students to understand these new connections. We hope to develop a work force and an electorate attuned to international events and how these events relate to the lives of global citizens. The Challenge affords community members an opportunity to participate in an innovative academic program that showcases the amazing talent and vision of our young people.

The school is a wonderful opportunity for the children of the area. Here they have a more creative, practical education with more art, English, sport and environmental studies. The children from the school come to the farm to learn about preparation of fertilizers, different crops etc. They also come for eco camps where they stay the night. Workshops have been organized in agriculture and other areas eg.

Hotels, restaurants, grocery stores, lumberyards, florists, dry cleaners, helicopter pilots, gas stations, truck and car rental companies, banks, caterers, homeowners and many other locally-based businesses benefit when a film comes to town. The provision of meals alone can mean expenditures of several thousand dollars a day. Film production also helps the province's tourism industry and can serve as a great travelogue for communities by exposing audiences to new and unfamiliar locales.

This collaboration reinforces IBM's commitment to the open source community and foundations such as Linux, Apache, Eclipse and Derby. IBM's newly introduced and optimized DB2 and Cloudscape extension for PHP will be submitted back to the PHP community and integrated into Zend Core for IBM. This expands IBM's investment in open source by helping developers more effectively create and deploy applications.

The largest Part 150 programs to be implemented at SAT are the Residential Acoustical Treatment Program (ATP), Land Use Study and the Noise Operations and Monitoring System (NOMS). SAT is working in conjunction with Federal, State and local government along with neighborhood groups to develop a comprehensive set of Noise Abatement Measures and Land Use Measures that will greatly reduce the overall noise impact on communities surrounding the airport.

Since its inception, Sea World has been a major catalyst in drawing millions of people to Queensland and Australia via active participation in promoting the Gold Coast as a tourist destination. Exit surveys reveal that 50% of visitors come to the Gold Coast because of the theme parks. Sea World attracts in excess of one million visitors annually and provides jobs for up to 650 employees. The educational opportunities at Sea World are limitless.

GGRA was founded in 1936 by restaurant operators who recognized the need for an organization that would represent the San Francisco restaurant industry. By early 1937, this group of operators had grown sufficiently in strength to become incorporated, pass by-laws and elect officers. Today, the Golden Gate Restaurant Association is governed by a Board of Directors elected from the membership at large.

Membership is open to the entire food service industry of the San Francisco Greater Bay Area including restaurants, catering operations, bars and taverns. Associated membership is available for supplier organizations.
