Do the Stage King guitars sound like the USA Retro Pro guitars?
Reverend FAQThey both use Reverend pickups, but the body construction makes a difference. The USA Retro Pro body has a wider frequency range, is more resonant, and has more upper harmonics -- it produces a unique tone with more lows and highs, a more transparent midrange, and more 'chimey' trebles. The wood construction of the Stage King bodies produce a more traditional tone with more midrange focus and a rounder, warmer treble response.
Related QuestionsIs the Stage King neck the same as the USA Retro Pro?
Reverend FAQThe overall thickness front to back, width at the nut and body, low-friction satin finish, and 25.5" scale length are the same. The USA neck has a true C shape. The Stage King neck is just slightly beefier and rounder at the shoulders yielding a C/D hybrid shape, but not real flat on the back like a 'shred metal' neck. If you like the USA neck, you should have no problem with the Stage King neck.
Related QuestionsDo the new guitars sound like the discontinued USA guitars?
Reverend FAQThe new guitars use the same Reverend pickups and have the lively, responsive Reverend tone. The discontinued USA composite body produces less midrange and more lows and highs. The wood construction of the new bodies produce a more traditional tone with more midrange focus and clarity, and a rounder, warmer treble response.

faq/orderTry listening to CDs recorded with my guitars. This can be very deceptive, though. If you don't have access to a recent guitar (try the dealers listed above), here is my two cents on sound. Recording conditions, player technique, and when the instrument was made all have mitigating influences on what you hear. Here is what I work toward: a big sound, very even and sustaining, of great clarity and depth, yet warm and dark.
Related QuestionsAre the USA Retro Pro instruments plastic?
Reverend FAQNo. In fact, the body and neck together total about 90% wood. The body outer rim is plastic (injection molded high impact polymer), the top and back are phenolic laminate made from wood fibers and resin, and the 6 inch wide center block is white mahogany. Weight and tone are the same. However, brushed aluminum finishes act as a large hum shield, reducing single-coil pickup hum about 10% compared to standard finishes.
Related QuestionsDo double-top instruments sound like lattice-top guitars?
Classical Guitars by Fritz Mueller -- Frequently Asked Quest...No. Lattice-top construction works on quite a different principle than composite or double-top construction. In a lattice guitar, the top is ultra thin (perhaps .5 mm) and is held up by a strong lattice-work of braces. In composite construction, the assembled top is as stiff and thick as a traditional solid top and is braced fairly lightly, just as in traditional construction. Unlike lattice-top guitars, my double-tops have the traditional tonality of the classical guitar.
Related QuestionsHow do I make my TriAxis sound like the Pro's I hear ?
FAQ'sIt's a good question with many answers! FIRSTLY - the TriAxis can be set up with many different sounds - make sure that the sounds within the unit are what you like - a simple statement, but unless you know how to change them with memory dumps, then it's twiddle time on the front controls. Unfortunately that is probably NOT the way to do things - the sounds you hear will be dependent on the other items in your rack including the amp used.
Related QuestionsWhy do some guitars sound good and others don't?
Frequently Asked QuestionsIt comes down to four things: Wood, Electronics, Paint, and Hardware. Changing any one of these things on your guitar can yield good results, but they all play a big part in the tone of your instrument. A guitar made with quality tone woods, hardware, and electronics, thats finished in nitrocellulose lacquer, will always sound better than a guitar made with cheap laminated woods, hardware, and electronics thats finished in polyuthothane.
Related QuestionsWhat about the evenness of the sound of your guitars?
Classical Guitars by Fritz Mueller -- Frequently Asked Quest...I believe that the evenness of my double-tops, both across the strings and along them, is exceptional. One important reason is the control I now have over the frequencies of the major resonances of the instruments. Also, in a composite top the resonances respond over a particularly broad frequency range, which is extremely beneficial. (Read more about resonances here.)

Related QuestionsWhat is the story behind Retro?
KMFDM FAQIt was ill-conceived by TVT as a promo for KMFDM to be sent to radio stations to 'alert them of KMFDM 's long history and prolific output, in order to get airplay for tracks off Xtort.' We disagreed with this policy, but were informed about the fact too late... a couple of 1000 copies had already been manufactured (with incorrect credits on top of everything else...) and we told 'em to shove it and prohibited any further use."
Related QuestionsWell, what do they sound like?
Tram: Frequently Asked Questions: Pitchfork Record ReviewTram, a band frequently likened to Low, happens to be similarly atmospheric and slow-paced. But the resemblance ends there. In place of Low's Spartan restraint and Duluthian Mormon mystique are a tendency toward sedative multi-instrumental lullabying and a heavy dose of wispy, British melancholy. Tram's arrangements are vibrantly lush, even orchestral at times, but never crowded.

Related QuestionsWhy do 12-Fret guitars sound so good?
Why 12-fret guitars sound so good is the subject of almost as much myth as the myth that a mysterious varnish makes the Stradivarius tone! The myth is that the 12-fret bridge placement is in the middle or a "sweet spot" on the top of the guitar. Many builders have set out to design a guitar around that "sweet spot" placement only to find that there just isn't that added 12 fret magic. Hmmm.... The real story is that a 12-fret neck is shorter and thicker, relatively speaking.

How Does a Guitars Construction Affect Its Sound?
RMMGA Frequently Asked QuestionsBracing Bracing adds strength to the top without (hopefully) killing too much of the top's vibration. A set of medium gauge steel strings on a normal dreadnought scale length (25.4") guitar exerts about 185 lb of tension. This would splinter a thin wood top if it weren't braced. A top thick enough to hold this much tension without bracing would be very quiet and tinny-sounding.
