What encryption modes SILC support?
SILC Secure Internet Live ConferencingThe required encryption mode currently is CBC with inter-packet chaining. The specification recommends implementations to use CTR mode as well, and defines randomized CBC (with random IV's) as optional mode. It is also possible to negotiate other modes during SILC key exchange protocol, if needed. We have also looked into so called authenticated encryption modes that NIST are currently considering. More information will follow later.
Related QuestionsWhat kind of presence modes SILC support?
SILC Secure Internet Live ConferencingBy presence we mean indication of presence in the network, and SILC supports several different kinds of presence modes. They can be changed with the UMODE command which changes your user mode in the network. Currently there are the following modes for presence: GONE (I'm away), INDISPOSED (I cannot be here), BUSY (I'm busy, don't bother me), PAGE (page me if you want to talk), and HYPER (I'm hyper active, talk to me). When mode is not set it means you are present in the network.
Related QuestionsWhat other algorithms SILC support?
SILC Secure Internet Live ConferencingThe AES is the only required algorithm. The protocol specification also lists optional algorithms like Twofish, CAST, etc., and you can negotiate other algorithms as well during the SILC key exchange protocol, if needed.
Related QuestionsWhat hash functions SILC support?
SILC Secure Internet Live ConferencingThe required hash function is SHA-1, but also the MD5 is added to the specification as optional hash function. The SHA-1 is also the required hash function when used as part of HMAC to provide integrity protection for encrypted packets.

Decru - Frequently Asked QuestionsDecru DataFort encrypts data with a cryptographically strong, FIPS (Federal Information Processing Standards) approved cipher: AES-256. The complete DataFort encryption system, including encryption, key management, and clustering, has achieved NIST validation for compliance with FIPS 140-2, level 3. Decru's AES, SHA-1, and SHA-256 implementations have also been approved by NIST. For more information, visit: http://csrc.ncsl.nist.gov/cryptval/aes/aesval.html.
Related QuestionsWhat public key algorithms SILC support?
SILC Secure Internet Live ConferencingThe required public key algorithm is RSA, but optional support is for DSS. The RSA algorithm in SILC supports PKCS#1 standard. During the key exchange protocol also Diffie-Hellman public key algorithm is used to exchange keys. The Diffie-Hellman in SILC supports PKCS#3 standard. Adding support for other algorithms like El Gamal is possible by negotiating them in SILC key exchange. PGP keys, or as they are officially called OpenPGP certificates are supported in SILC protocol.

Encryption is a way to rewrite something in a code, which can be decoded later with the right "key". When you request information about your accounts, the information is sent across the web in an encrypted format. When the information reaches you, it is decoded so that you and no one else can read it.Related Questions
Who is behind the SILC?
SILC Secure Internet Live ConferencingThe SILC was developed by Pekka Riikonen in Finland. He also started the SILC project that now coordinates the SILC development. He has worked for years in the field of security, for example several years at the SSH Communications Security Corporation as Chief Engineer with responsibilities in IPSEC core development. The SILC Project consists of several volunteers who maintain the SILC Network, its routers and servers. Volunteers who provide the silcnet.

Related QuestionsWill WowBB support threaded and/or hybrid modes?
WowBB FAQWowBB is not a threaded bulletin board, and will probably never become one. The main reason for this is that threaded boards break the natural flow of a discussion by allowing branching. In a flat board, if you want to address someone, you can either quote part of his/her message or write his/her name in the beginning of your post. Good moderators know how to keep posters on topic, and may close a topic if it becomes off-topic. You don't often see this in threaded boards.

Related QuestionsWhat about encryption speed?
Frequently Asked QuestionsThis heavily depends on the number of files because the file open operation may take considerable time. For example, encrypting a 10Mb file will take a second or two, while the time, required to encrypt 10,000 1kb files, will probably be close to several minutes. This is a Windows limitation; if you copy the files with the Windows Explorer, you will see exactly the same picture. In general, our products work very fast.

Related QuestionsWhy SILC? Why not IRC3?
SILC Secure Internet Live ConferencingQuestion that is justified no doubt of that. SILC was not started to become a replacement for IRC. SILC was something that didn't exist in 1996 or even today except that SILC is now released. However, I did check out the IRC3 project in 1997 when I started coding and planning the SILC protocol. But, IRC3 is problematic. Why? Because it still doesn't exist. The project is almost at the same spot where it was in 1997 when I checked it out. And it was old project back then as well.
Related QuestionsWhat are AND and OR modes?
ATSUMI ELECTRICIn AND mode, two beams must be broken simultaneously to trigger an alarm, so it gives stable operation. Small animals such as dog and birds cross only one beam so alarm is not triggered. In OR mode, only a single beam breakage triggers an alarm. It is mainly used for detection of crawling intruders. Most commonly OR mode is used for the lowest stack of beam stacking.
