Text is not different from any other type of object in Inkscape. You can paint its fill and stroke with any color, as you would do with any object. There are several text editors on UNIX. Probably the most user-friendly is 'pico'. You create or edit a file by typing: Other editors on the system include vi, vim, emacs, and xemacs.
