For most families, this is the time when regional offices become most involved in coordinating services. Depending on the circumstance and wishes of the person with a developmental disability, regional offices can coordinate vocational training and job placement services, referral to sheltered employment, or other supported activities based upon the needs of the individual.

Noticeable change of friends over a period of time (new friends tend to be more known or suspected of chemical use than old ones). Yes, Glenholme students earn community service credits toward their graduation requirement. Glenholme provides an extensive community service program. All students are encouraged to participate in projects that benefit the surrounding communities.

The Education Department is required to notify Social Services of all young people aged 13 or 14 who are disabled. Eight months before a child with a disability is due to leave full time education the Education Department is required to notify Social Services in writing. Social Services are then obliged to co-ordinate a multi-agency assessment of the young person which must be completed no later than 3 months before the person's school or college leaving date.

Campus policy on student information provided to parents/guardians has been developed within the provisions of the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA). Job training is not all that students can gain by joining Job Corps. To make sure graduates have what they need to get the best job possible, Job Corps offers the opportunity to earn a high school diploma or GED. The program also offers English as a Second Language (ESL) classes at many centers. Job Corps, students work toward a diploma or GED at their own pace and receive periodic progress evaluations.

For those who will be best served seeing a therapist in the community, the Counseling Center maintains professional contact with a number of Mental Health Care Professionals in the area. We are able to work with students to identify a therapist who works well with the student's concerns and accepts the student's insurance. ->more info

Staffers at Computing Services hire and train students to be residence hall consultants. Called 'Res Cons' for short, they help students with personal computer concerns. Each of the 'pods' - areas where University computers are available for student use - also has staff who can assist students using machines there. The Help Desk at (607) 777-6420 is another source of help for all campus computer users. TOP

We provide phone, walk-in and e-mail support to students. The primary office for Academic Computing is Wooster Science Building room 1F: professional staff may be available by appointment. The students at the Help Desk do not install hardware nor do they install software.

A person who is a party on the case may permit another person to gain access to information about the case. A Voluntary Authorization for Release of Information form must be completed by the party on the case stating who may have access and for how long.

The Office of Career Services assists students and graduates in securing full and part time positions. The staff of Career Services maintains a library of current job opening, arranges on-campus recruitment, assists students in resume preparation, coordinates two on-campus Career Fairs each year and can assist students with College Central, the College's online career and placement service.

Regional offices have staff who are knowledgeable about IDEA and who are trained to be advocates for families in individual education programs (IEP's). They can assist families in understanding their rights and responsibilities in relation to their child's educational needs. Generally speaking, the regional offices are not equipped to offer legal advice or services. However, if an eligible recipient of services requires a legal guardian, your service coordinator can assist in that effort.

After graduation, many of our children continue their education in colleges and universities across the nation. Most decide to attend a Christian school while others choose community colleges or vocational schools. Every child is encouraged to pursue their academic studies and training.

You may earn a high school diploma from the state where you are now residing or you may earn a Louisiana high school diploma if you meet the Louisiana graduation requirements.

present (June 2007), SelfDesign has affiliated with the Clonlara program in Michigan to establish the possibility of a SelfDesign/Clonlara graduation program. If there is sufficient interest within the SDLC and HLN communities, members of SelfDesign exec and a selection of our Learning Consultants are interested in designing a grad program that could begin as early as Sept. 2007.

A high school diploma or GED is not a prerequisite for admission to a technical college, but the diploma or GED may be required for admission into specific academic programs. Students who are admitted to a technical college, enrolled in six or more credit hours, and who meet the other eligibility requirements may receive lottery tuition assistance.

We do not require that students possess any software programs (or even a computer). Most software programs are prohibitively expensive. Any software programs that are required for classes are installed in computer labs that are accessible to the students. The open labs are running a variety of software applications running under Windows XP. Please be aware that many software companies offer educational discounts for students in higher ed.

Many high school students find that chemistry is a challenging subject for a variety of reasons. Those reasons include the intellectual demands of the subject, difficulties with the mathematical aspects of chemistry and problems associated with the instruction they are receiving at school (often related to issues such as class size and teaching.) As a result, many students will fail to reach their full potential in the subject. Private tuition will help the student reach that potential.

If you child is under the age of 18, and you are his/her legal guardian, you may sign the Agreement and Consent Forms. In addition, you may arrange for and accompany your child to meetings with your Regional Center Service Coordinator. If your child is an adult, and over the age of 18, you may not sign documents for them or arrange meetings with Regional Center personnel without their permission.
