The current building would house other City services that are experiencing space constraints. Currently, several City departments are spread out among several buildings. City Administration and Finance staffs, for example, are split among three buildings. Engineering and Community Development staffs occupy modular buildings behind City Hall.

Construction of the proposed new library would occur only if Ballot Measure 34-47 passes in the May 21 election. The measure would authorize the city to issue bonds not to exceed $13 million. That funding would be used to acquire property and design, build and furnish a new library of approximately 47,000 square feet. It would also pay for parking and related street improvements. The proceeds from Bond Measure 34-47 would not be used to pay for additional staff.

The Clinic has been in its present location since 1968, nearly 40 years; it is devoted and dedicated to serving this neighborhood.

After its founding in 1800, the Library was housed in a boarding house and later in the Capitol. Its first permanent building -- now called the Thomas Jefferson Building -- was opened in 1897. The John Adams Building was completed in 1939 and the James Madison Memorial Building in 1980.

Information about the proposed new library can be found in several places. At the Library, a display in the lobby provides information about the project. Another display near the architectural model also contains flyers, brochures and fact sheets. The City Hall lobby also has a display with information about the proposed library. Each week a new question of the week is posted at these locations, as well as on the library's web page.

The other City departments face a critical need for more space in order to serve a rapidly growing community. The City Council hasn't yet determined exactly how to use the present Library facility after the Library moves out, except to dedicate it to housing City administration.

More than a museum, the AWC will house a vibrant mix of cultural activities through engaging and inter-disciplinary presentations. Welcoming yet provocative, the August Wilson Center for African American Culture will bring together people from all cultural backgrounds and of all ages.

The current Biomed Library opened in 1969 and was designed by the late architect Robert E. Alexander.

It depends on a number of factors including the Resource Consent application. However, the aim is to begin site clearance in March 2007 and construction in May 2007. It is expected construction will be completed by early 2009.

The project has been awarded to contractors in September 2006. The construction is scheduled to begin no later than October 2nd. The new Public Library is scheduled to be completed by January 1, 2008.

The cost of a new library will come from a variety of sources that include both private and public funds. The Tigard Library already has received two substantial bequests from former residents to fund portions of the new library. Tigard citizens have also formed a private, non-profit foundation to raise funds to help the library pay for both construction and ongoing program needs.

The next few months will be filled with light bulbs---the kind that light up with new ideas. The exciting design phase begins! Staff and citizens alike can put on their thinking caps and share their ideas for the new library. Key design and construction personnel will be hired. By the end of September, the architect, the City's representative and the construction manager/general manager should be on board. All play significant roles in the design process.

A number of steps are required before a new bridge could be constructed. First, a decision must be made through the EIS process that a new bridge is the preferred alternative to solve the identified transportation problems. Second, the FHWA must sign the Final EIS and approve the Record of Decision (ROD). The ROD would not be approved until all local land use actions are complete and funding and mitigation plans in place.

It will be used a middle school for 6th, 7th and 8th graders. The curriculum needs for this age group are very different from high school. This building can accommodate that group of students, allowing the elementary buildings extra space for all day every day kindergarten as well as music, art and library space.

The older part of the building (3rd floor and up) was built, rebuilt, and added on to by a variety of individuals in the earlier part of this century. The plan for the original half was conceived by Julian, and represents a confluence of medieval, Gothic, and Norman styles. Architect John Quincy Adams designed the extensive renovations that transformed the de Cordova mansion into a public museum.

On March 7, 2005 PAMF notified the City of San Carlos that the proposed height of the main building in the complex should be extended from 81 feet to 91 feet.This was done in recognition of the San Carlos Municipal Code definition of the term height and in order to accommodate screening of rooftop equipment.In August 2005, the height was again raised by 2 feet in order to use excavated soil as fill on-site and to avoid export and hauling of soil over city streets.

The ERC made use of an existing Southern California Gas Company building. Approximately 60% of the old building materials were either left in place, removed for future reinstallation or recycled. About 80% of all ERC construction materials, internal furnishings and displays are either recycled, contain recycled materials, or are made of renewable resources.

The expanded Computer Catalog Center adjacent to the Main Reading Room enables patrons to use a simplified automated bibliographic search program to look up titles in the Library's general book collections. Users outside the Library can gain free access to its online catalog. Major exhibitions of the library are also available on-line, as are selected prints and photographs, historic films and political speeches. Our current facilities are overcrowded. Our growth options are limited at our current campus. If we were to remain at Hamilton Blvd., municipal building codes would require the removal of the portable modules that we rely on for our Youth program and many other ministries. The loss of this critical space would cause us to move backwards in our ministries, giving us fewer options for events and activities.

The current Central Library is 50 years old and was built for a San Diego population of only 544,000 people. Today the city has more than 1.27 million. More than 60 percent of the Central Library’s collection is stored on two basement levels that are not open to the public. Its auditorium only seats 180 people.

The citizen-based New Tigard Library Construction Committee evaluated several potential sites in 2000 and 2001. They based their deliberations on several criteria. The Committee concluded that the site must be four to six acres to accommodate a 47,000-square-foot building and adequate parking. It also should be large enough to accommodate future expansion. The Committee also expressed its desire to locate the library where patrons can enjoy picturesque views and have access to natural areas.

There are two possible routes. In the first, the "front door" route, the governor has to negotiate a compact with the Seneca-Cayugas that would specify sales tax and other issues. It has to be passed out of legislative committees and approved by both houses of the state legislature. Because the legislature in 2001 (to ease budget problems related to 9-11) approved three casinos in Sullivan or Ulster Counties, no new casino enabling legislation may be needed.

The wedge-shaped building at the intersection of Wellington and Front streets was formerly known as the Gooderham building. It was built in 1891-2 and designed by architect David Roberts. Before that time, the same site held a wooden hotel of the same shape, and was sometimes known as the Coffin Block, for its resemblance to a coffin.
