In order for your PC to acknowledge the EzClone, you must firs press the "RUN"button for approximately 5-7 seconds. Once all three LED lights on the front panel of the EzClone light, you may then connect it via USB. This step ensures that the EzClone is switching to Exteranl Writer Mode. If it still does not work, make sure the USB Storage driver was installed for a Win 98SE system. Or try another computer to verify that there is any driver which was mistakenly removed.
